This quality time with rusty suds leads me to thank @stevebo for teaching me how to polish a turd last June!  A big tip is the way you fold the paper... it holds together and you can still make use of all three sides!

You may want to let the unpainted areas flash rust prior to the clear. It will give the clear something to grip and enhance the look.     :twocents-02cents:

We just went to the store for grillin’ goods.

On the way home, I say “I wet sanded the fenders and cleared a few parts today.”

“Oh yeah?  How’s it look?”

”Pretty good.  I told you it was the way to go.”

Slight pause...  I couldn’t look at her...

”Baaaah hahahahah!  You just wait ‘till I tell all your friends about this!”

”I already told them.”

more laughter from my wife....

The massive modification (mutilation) of the steering shaft to clear the oil pan shortened it by quite a bit.  A quick spacer will help things stay in line.

Bath day!  I’ll have to get the cherry picker out and lift it up vertical to get the undercarriage good and clean.  I do wish the front axle pin wasn’t welded in place.... and I know I could un-weld it if I wanted to, but the front end will just stay complete for clear coating for now.

Making good progress, Kevin. I'm liking the looks of the cleared over parts.:handgestures-thumbupright: The Mrs. will be happy that you talked her into doing it that way.

You may want to consider doing a wheel alignment too.     :confusion-confused:     I'm no expert, but it looks like it may be toed-in a bit!      :hide:

Don't get too worried about it Dick. He's probably got those newfangled High flexibility tie rods.

Anyways, the faster you go the straighter the wheels are. Or so I'm told....

I’m not from Indiana, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a good Hoosier!

It’s time for the hood to be wet sanded.  Slow and steady.... let the tools do the work... DON’T SCREW IT UP KEV!

What color red is correct on a 1963 Wheel Horse?  Well, it depends on who’s holding the brush!  We had joked a while back on how to mix WH red and AC orange.  I guess this is how!

Looking great Kevin:eusa-clap: it seems the older I get, the more I find myself saying to Kelli, “You were right babe!” Not always an easy pill to swallow but it aids the harmony of the relationship.

I cant wait to see the finished product! Good luck

Now that is what happens when you get up early, troll on your phone for awhile and decide to post, not realizing that your son was the last one to post, using your phone with his account!!!  However, we are both in agreement that Frank is looking good and we can’t wait to see the finished product. We need to do a more thorough “spit shine” on Comanche this summer as well...

Pure awesome right there!  I knew who was talking when I was reading it, no worries :handgestures-thumbupright:

So if anyone ever wonders what Rustoleum Crystal Clear would look like, dump a bunch of water on the part, then imagine the feel of WD40 under your fingertips.  After a day of the fenders and tool box baking in the sun, my father in-law asked me how long until it dries!

I’m going to rinse that bottom trim inside and out the best I can, then leave it upside down to dry up for a few days.  Then, the hood’s ready for clear.

Just blast the seam with a blow gun until no more water comes out, you'll have it ready to clear in less than 15min. It also helps to have a clean rag in your hand, you can wipe the large quantities of water as it comes out. Speeds up the blow drying even more.

Yeah, I did that for quite a while too, but I don’t want to blast from the outside... for fear of compromising the Stars and Stripes too much.  It’s probably not what someone wants to hear when painting, but this stuff is fairly fragile and I hope the clear helps to preserve it for a little while longer.
