953 nut 51,029 #2 Posted September 4, 2018 Can we have a bit more information please? Is this a new problem on a previously good working deck? Had the belt been tightened prior to the problem occurring? Had the deck or mule drive been removed or the belt replaced recently? Are the idler pulleys on the mule drive turning freely?

Kaagraves 1 #4 Posted September 5, 2018 Mower is new to me had this problem pretty much front the start. I tried two new belts same thing. Idler pulleys turn free and I have not had the mule drive off. I did take the deck off and grease the spendels.
peter lena 7,982 #5 Posted September 5, 2018 do you have any pictures of this problem ? both the pto and drive belts are the mainstay of these tractors, they are basic and simple in there application and installation, there must be something ,that would be obvious to this site ,that will help you, if we can see it . any possible detail will help us help you, Pete
953 nut 51,029 #6 Posted September 5, 2018 Take a look at pages 2 and 3 of this manual and confirm that your mower is properly mounted including the "fork" in figure 5. Don't know if this is your mower model, probably not, but the mounting procedure is the important part.
Kaagraves 1 #7 Posted October 2, 2018 I think I figured it out. I did not have the belt tight enough I tensioned the mule drive before I started. I will find out for sure next time I mow.

cleat 4,896 #9 Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) Do you have the cover / guard on the Mule ? This also keeps the belt on as it sits quite close to the pulleys. Cleat Edited October 9, 2018 by cleat
D_Mac 8,111 #10 Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) I have a question. I have a 308-8. My belt dosnt come off but it wobbles pretty good when engaged. Making the belt tighter or looser dosnt seem to help. Belt is brand new. Is that normal ? Edited October 9, 2018 by D_Mac
cleat 4,896 #11 Posted October 9, 2018 Is the center pulley on your deck straight and wobble free ? I have lots of used pulleys here that are not straight.
