Throttle control loose

How do you tighten up the controller to keep from falling down while running? I've mashed the sides in as much as possible but it doesn't help, actually made it looser. Can run a bolt though the pivot part and tighten that way? Do you drill out the large rivet or just put a small bolt through it?

While you're at it , see if a fiber washer from a faucet repair kit will fit on either side of the lever .

Should make it silky smooth too .

I drill the rivet out then install a 1/4" bolt and nyloc nut.

Little more work but good for life at that point.

This thread just answered my question.  I've been mowing my folks place with Dad's 314-8 that has this problem.  I put a small bungee cord on it to hold the lever up.

Thanks.

I did do this but I took the Dremel and ground off the outer flange parts of the rivet and kept the core in tact and ran a bolt through it. Works better now!
