Removing PTO clutch

Recommended Posts

mikemc53

I want to remove the PTO clutch on my C-81 and not sure what I'll need, tools-wise. It looks like snap ring pliers to start with but after the outside snap ring is off, what comes next?

Thanks gang.

Once you remove the pin that connected to the U shaped rod that engages the clutch, it should slide off. The snap ring doesn't keep it on the shaft, it keeps the bearings and guts in the pulley.

The question needs to asked, what are you wanting to do as to how you want to disassemble it.

Good info in this service manual. Pto is in section 9. Click on the picture.

There may be a small break shoe at the upper left side of the PTO that would need to be removed too.
