Thanks!

I'm very happy with the sound as well.

I haven't heard that engine run that smooth in 2 decades or more.

Thanks to Lincoln @A-Z Tractor for the carb parts. I told him to send what I needed (I didn't know) and he put together a few little bags of parts for us.

It's great that we have resources like him and other fine Redsquare vendors to call on.

With the Tecumseh pepper pot muffler and a carb rebuild parts assortment it seems really happy.

I really am... for many reasons.

Her "interest" really is practicality based though.

She's very hard working, driven, non-stop about chores. She was always accustomed to grabbing a wheelbarrow/cart/pulk sled and just going at it til done.

It took me 2 years or so get her to drive my B80.

Once she did, she saw how much more convenient and time saving it is to move stuff in 1 big load instead of 5 or 7 small loads.... And she likes "seat time" just as much as we all do.

I think it would be tough to get her to buy another unless it was insanely cheap like this one was...   bbuuttt she did say the older smaller ones are cute....

Here's the "next-in-line" list from the other thread...

Well....

Let's see.

We need to finish up the dumping trailer...

Get the log splitter put back together...

Repaint the 1976/77 Ohio steel trailer a dear friend gave us...

Get the homemade log trailer axles back on and add a deck to it...

Get a C160 up and running.....

Oh yeah.... Paint the house.

You know.... Life.

We should be able to stay busy for a few more days... Or weeks... Or months...

Hey, it really is HERS...

She bought it.

She did ALL of the hard/nasty/dirty work on it... and wouldn't have it any other way.

She bought most of the resto/repaint stuff.

And it's little, like her. :D  I'll stick to my B and C series. :banana-guitar:

If I can find a crankshaft we'll probably put the techy back in...

I have another pile of horse parts/potential tractor that I could use that engine on.

Aawwww.

She has some for it already. The correct numbered ones which won't quite match the engine at least for a little while.

I'll see if I can get her to install them and get some updated pics

My show tractors for October Festivals.
RJ59, 1045, 657 w/sickle bar, 10HP and D200. Just love the attention and hearing the stories of grandpa or growing up had one. Always can see the joy these Horses bring to the spectators. Than telling them the WH history story along with Speedex story always intrigues them.
Than of course there is always someone that needs to get one out of the way.
Last year it was the 1045 and the PO was so excited to learn I got her running and been mowing my grass all summer. Of course I had to let him drive her around.
      This year it’s a 702 I think I getting this week.
So many were engrossed by the Sickle Bar never knowing such was available on garden tractors.

As stated in another section my honey went and bought herself a 657 a few days ago. Sunday afternoon to be exact.

Runs and drives quite well and had a very serious and non negotiable issue.
It's Oliver green with Ford gray wheels.

Other than that the work should be minimal standard stuff.

Well of course she started tearing right into the disassembling of the lucky little tractor.
We started to show the daily work being done to it and then realized we should really start a new thread in the proper location.

So here's a few before pics as a reminder.

Here's the end of Sunday results.

And a pic from Monday nights work.

After this was taken she found some spray on paint stripper and emptied the can on it.

We left it on for 24 hours or so.

      And found red paint!!

If you read the restoration thread you'll see that one of my recent posts involves me snapping off the end of the crankshaft during an attempted repair.
You'll also see about a Briggs & Stratton engine  I'm going to use.

What I'm looking for in this thread is if anyone has ever put an older style Briggs & Stratton in place of a Tecumseh or even a Kohler....

What are the things I need to watch for?

      By ebinmaine
I'm accustomed to using Non detergent oil in all older small engines.
Thanks to @pfrederi I have the manual for the Tecumseh and it says to use detergent oil BUT it is printed in 1998... Over 30 years after DOM on my engine.

      What do you folks use??

      I've ordered this set

      https://www.redoyourhorse.com/tecumseh-4-pc-engine-decal-set/

from our awesome vendor Terry @Vinylguy.

I know where the balloon sticker goes and the oil sticker.

Where does the large "Solid State" one belong??

      Thanks!!
