Didn’t know that, thanks!  I’ll make sure to at least attach to the closest to a good bolt then. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Yeah don't ask me how I know... :hide: E track does it's best work on strait pulls. More the angle the better chance of the hold down coming out. or ripping the metal right out of the track if the tie down does hold. The tie downs are way stronger than the track.

Good point @WHX24!

I always put a heavy rug / weight on the cable when winching anything substantial to drop it if something goes wrong... Overkill? Maybe... But a buddy blew out a back tailgate back in the day when a winch cable slipped off a truck we were pulling out of the drink... hit the truck like a bullet. 1' higher and the rear window (and maybe his head) would have been toast...

chains I feel are even worse when they break!  I used to have an S10 blazer mud truck on 40” tires and could open the doors over the roof of my Jetta.  I stuck that in a swamp and put a chain through the back window and onto the dashboard next to my head!

That would be a great idea. Tie 'em down on the ground & pull the whole load into the truck.

You know what would be a better idea?  If I bust out Stormy and the FEL to help lift this thing!  Work smarter, not break your back can’t trust a fart harder!

I failed to mention yesterday how proud I am of my girls.  I am glad I have my girls.  I don’t wish I had tried for a boy.  They are perfect the way they are.

We managed to get the deck loaded atop of Norman!  I started to load it as seen above, then grabbed Stormy the 1056 and the FEL to pick the back end up while I was going to pull the front over the wheel wells.  That’s when all went wrong.  It wasn’t high enough in the tail, so I started to lift the deck to adjust the strap, then a strap came loose, then I called them out for help.  Those two kids picked the back end of that thing up and helped shove it into the truck bed!  No question about it, they are tough and mean if they need to be!

Today I received an 8 pack of 2” e-track straps for the deck.  That’ll hold a few things down!  I also borrowed my FIL’s small genny that fits under the deck, room up top to haul a couple extra tractors for some WI guys while I’m on the way, along with some parts for MN fellas too!

Ya know, if you rip that bed off of that truck, you just might have something there.

The house next door to me was just bought by a flipper. This guy has the best toys. Excavators, boom trucks etc.

I noticed the other day he dropped off his roll off container using the same truck he had his tractor and mule on a few days earlier!

Upon closer inspection, he has a custom flatbed for his rolloff truck. I don't know if this is a common thing, but it's just brilliant. Take a flatbed, add rails compatible with the roll off and you have a dual purpose truck..

Edit: To clarify, his flatbed mounts to the truck just like a roll off container. So he can do either. Genius!

'Course that's coming from 60 + yo dude that abused his body when he was your age and is paying for it now!

Everybody chant with me ...toy hauler toy hauler.

Agreed. Absolutely insane. The one guy was so close... Imagine having your back to that and suddenly feeling intense heat. What a lucky dude.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but your LED tape/rope kinda looks like just like it.

PS: I accept no blame should you now be a-feared of your LED tape/rope.

Truth be told, I’m within Norman’s hauling specifications... it just looks funny doing it.  When we came home from last year’s big show with 6 tractors and the camper and family, I calculated we were 500-ish lbs shy of max load.  Take 2 tractors away, numerous engines and various bits, add a couple 10 inchers for plowing, we’re just dandy!

      1947 Empire (Jeep) Tractor

The Empire tractor consisted of military power components from World War II-era jeeps. It had a 4-cylinder, 40 hp Willys-Overland engine, a Model T-84 Spicer 3-speed transmission, Spicer transfer case with high and low speeds, Willys rear end, steering column and gearbox. It also had PTO, individual clutch-type rear brakes with a stop provided for parking and a rear belt pulley. The fuel tank and an Empire-style seat were mounted on a large operator's platform (made from Navy ship decking). Its simple, basic gauges (ammeter, oil pressure and temperature), ignition switch and starter button also came from the jeep. The Empire tractor was originally made for exportation in the Lend-Lease Program after World War II.

If I had to mention a couple of things that made the Empire Tractor really unique, one would be the straight bar hitch that pulled from under the center of the tractor (patented) thus making an overturn nearly impossible. The other selling point was, of course, the Willys engine and drive train made famous in the Jeep during World War II. The Empire was a well equipped tractor, very reliable and versatile with its wide range of speeds. Today this tractor draws a lot of attention at shows and is very sought after by collectors commanding higher than average prices.

Well fellas I decided to buy a jeep wrangler as a new toy. I have always been into the off-roading scene since I was a kid. I always loved trucks, jeeps, atvs. Recently a friend of mine traded his mustang for a lifted wrangler and its a blast to go off-roading in or wheeling as they like to put it.

I couldn't help myself and wanted to join in so I bought a 1993 with 153,000 miles on it with a ton of add ons for a great price. It has a 5.5" suspension lift, a 2' body lift and rides on 35" tires. She has 4.56 gears which are awesome for crawling, 4wd low range and 1st gear and you don't even have to touch the gas pedal. It is a 4.0L 6 cylinder engine back by a 5 speed manual trans. The rear drive shaft is a custom cv drive shaft with a slip yoke eliminator. The rear axle is a ford 8.8 limited slip with disc brakes out of a ford explorer. The frame is perfect not a spec of rust and was coated with POR-15.

She does have her fair share of issues but I am working on getting those straightened out! I just had the front drive shaft rebuilt and balanced. I ordered all new extremely heavy duty shocks. I need to fabricate 2 custom rear shock mounts as the "custom" ones that were on it broke off lol. She needs 2 new leaf spring packs in the rear. Some body work. A good cleaning after this weekend. Some fender flares. Etc!

If anyone has any good oh crap off-roading or wheeling stories with their jeeps or pictures please share. After this past Sundays experience I could probably top them lol.

I hope you enjoy the pics and the video my jeep was the main attraction. (I did not edit the video a friend did, so turn down the volume or the music might scare you)
