Does this engine have a fuel pump?  What’s left... electrical?

Fuel pump is just under the front of the air cleaner. Since the engine is magneto ignition, I just need battery power to crank it over for a test run. Just want to test it/the hydro and makes sure it all works. I’ll hopefully make the wiring harness next. I want to use the push button starter and all original controls on it if I can.

I saw it. Truly humbled by it. Factory look is what I’m after. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Not on a hydro. You would need to get into the valving and relief springs/settings to increase flow. I prefer to leave it alone. I’ll just be happy if it moves. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Larger diameter tires would give you something but nothing earthshaking! Swapping out "H" and in "HC" gears in the transaxle can also add another 1+ mph--but a lot of work and $$ for a small gain.

Your creativity and craftsmanship are simply awesome. Thanks for letting us follow along.

And like putting on 30 inch tall tires, wouldn't that make a hydro faster?

I heard the 520 are a bit faster, to they have different gearing?

I think the 520HC was faster but like mentioned only by maybe 1mph. Too much work for me at this point. It will be quick enough for her. I may go just a little taller with the tires when the time comes. Want to get everything figured out first before teardown and paint.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

There was thread not long ago that discussed H vs HC gearing (and some other models as well)

I remember that it was the short-lived 520-HC ('88-89) that was a bit faster. Same Eaton 1100 as the "H" but its transaxle was geared a bit higher. If I recall correctly, it was 7.5 max vs. 5.6 on the H (?)

If you could fit 30" tires (?) and kept your "regular" transaxle it'd up the top speed by 30% -- 5.6 on the 23's to 7.3 mph.

I'm sure a "road gear" would be neat for some folks that travel on smooth surfaces, but for me the current max is bouncy enough!

Tires on it now are 27” tall, 4” taller than the 520 stock tires. Should roll around ok.

Throttle & choke levers came in today. Those are installed, cables hooked up and adjusted. Also made a plate for the solenoid to mount to. Wiring is next. Made a harness from an Xi harness I had. Repositioned wires to the correct terminals and Ohm tested good.

List is getting smaller.......Got the foot plates shaped and bolted up. Finished the wiring, solenoid plate and the side cover. Had to rivit an upper mounting bracket on the belt cover till an aluminum magician can work his magic. It’s getting excited to go to the show.
