JPWH 5,308 #1 Posted April 1, 2018 (edited) I picked this up at a flea market yesterday. The man I bought it from didn't know what it was either but said my curiosity was worth 3 dollars. A couple more pictures. Edited April 1, 2018 by JPWH Add pictures

Sarge 3,462 #3 Posted April 1, 2018 I agree, might be an indicator mount for an early lathe, depends on how the bottom is shaped - almost looks like a V way...? Sarge

JPWH 5,308 #13 Posted April 2, 2018 Thanks everyone for your help. I had no clue what it was. I looked it up on line from @midpack identification. Now I know a little about what it is used for. I think I will clean it up find a rod for it and use it.

c-series don 7,806 #16 Posted April 2, 2018 Eric, I knew it wasn't a thingamabobber, they only started making them in the 70's and that is obviously older than that 😂😂

The place where Starrett tools originated so many decades ago. Always nice to see the high quality of their stuff still around. I don't have any machinist tools or other things that they made other than a few high-quality metal rulers in different sizes. Just stuff I've picked up over the years from inheritances. 6 minutes ago, c-series don said: Eric, I knew it wasn't a thingamabobber, they only started making them in the 70's and that is obviously older than that 😂😂 Hahahahaha!! Well, you know, sometimes I get my unknown fine measuring tool holder years kind of mixed around. I am getting a little on the ancient side. 47 this past year you know.
