Rotitiler belt hook up. Something doesn't look right

Recommended Posts

I just bought a tractor with a tiller. The belt hook up doesn't look right to me. The tiller is on a 1973 raider.  Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe you need to put the belt in the "V" of the PTO pulley not laying on the end of the bell, also IDK what's up with the extra idler, Jeff.

Not sure why there is a extra pulley I just bought the tractor with the tiller a few days ago and that's the way it came.  I guess someone added it for some reason. Thanks for the picture of yours.  I'll get out in the shop tomorrow and mess with it. I wonder if they used a longer belt and that's how they took up the slack.  Any idea on the proper belt length .  Sorry the picture is not accurate.  The belt was in the V of the pulley I was in the process of taking the unit off and snapped a shot so I could remember how it was hooked up.

I believe it's 110" don't hold me to it as I've only replaced it once years ago, Jeff.

I also remember the belt length as being about 110 inches.  One thing to note, the small idler pulley position may be different on a single cylinder installation v. a twin.  Pull a copy of the tiller manual from the manuals section on RS to be sure.  As I recall, the description of where to put the pulley on the idler assembly is in there.

The part number I show above fit my tiller, and it is 141"
