Axle bearing question

Sustrand  hydro

The axle bearing is shot. Has anyone ever taped the existing bearing into the housing and press a new bearing in its place rather the dissembling the entire transmission?

That may be a tall order, the side wall of that bearing is not much. I agree with @953 nut, if you pull it off I would like to see how it's done. Always good to get some learning in.

I would hate to part such a good running machine. No knocks, no smoke, straight rust free c160, hydro works good, electric pto is good. Seems a waste but I’m not going into the transmission, too many other projects. So I’ll give it a try. If I strike out you I’ll part it.

How much you want for it as it sets? without attempting to fix it...

Yup, yup, yup, I would have to agree, Many people could probably build at least one tractor from spare parts while others are needing something similar to survive. We have lost our compassion for our fellow man!

That & $1.50 MAY buy you a cup of coffee at some places. Ron

If the existing bearing is bad and you push it in it may fall apart and you will have something like this.  (it took out the 1533 also)

Nothing good can happen from punching in an old, bad bearing,  when it is so easy to fix it the right way.  This is not a good idea.

Yes it it should go to a good home with someone who has the time to do it right.

The right side bearing should be a simple fix because the right 1/2 of the case can be removed with transmission staying in the tractor. That would leave the differential free to slide out so the left bearing could be changed.

I decided not to fool with it. I’ll let someone else who wants a c160 replace the bearing. I have several other wheel horses that need work that I need to get to.

i will be moving this to the classified section for 2 weeks and if not sold I will part.

I’m just out of time, space and patience.

If you were closer, I'd be all over it and I'm sure it will sell quickly - those are highly sought around this forum.

I wish I had the time, space and energy. But I dont, so I moved it to the classified section.

I hope that someone can pick up the ball and get it back to work.
