What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

Fetched my “New to Me”, ring roller home. (The larger one, the smaller one I use for making nice grooves in the ground for sowing grass seed). Repaired the “greasers”, new barrel nipples, originals had rusted away. C121 pulls it no trouble. Found some old spike harrow teeth to weld onto the bottom of the homemade ditching bucket, I don’t know why I bothered with old teeth, I’ve a few boxes of new ones, very expensive, cost me £1.00p at the local machinery sale, 😀 EACCCA1E-577D-4EC3-80F8-C6F1FD71E85C.jpeg.3c8f8afb9fa7d3ea85f42775ff67dfb3.jpeg983295BA-F2F3-4AE8-A97A-9AE9B238F512.jpeg.f20151ece4b9dfac5e97875304802b27.jpeg39376A2D-83E1-45F1-A7EA-7710D7BF9DEF.jpeg.91956fa4268c5a85f452d21d9b8fde0b.jpegC69A7AB1-990F-4106-9558-392720525FB0.jpeg.70f35a0614c49b1f7203a3d97c7d44f6.jpeg6D3CC0EC-BCAA-4ACA-9210-9883FDCDC8DA.jpeg.07e0302f8dbf6bcab6097568274f8b44.jpeg5D1C175B-0001-42D2-8E34-B27C131AFC84.jpeg.5e64bda6edb3bf7a3197fe3d072440ea.jpeg162018A8-33C7-4D75-8394-7C555609424E.jpeg.3cef0c226bbfad61c358e3b54745e12c.jpegF9F53669-CEF8-4198-9B70-AF57C00CCDDB.jpeg.691dfbcda78e30a34b9497e68f86a451.jpegE59F926A-4AC5-4E20-AEF5-288E5F9486A5.jpeg.55b5b88c2e571f81c015b153e9a23b89.jpegF3E65508-6912-44D9-ACE3-98486BCC48F2.jpeg.06e32a07129ac8e73834b6fdea9af5e3.jpegPaddock grass is now growing like mad, must sort out the sickle mower ready for hay cutting!

312-8 has got to the point where I must do something with it. It’ll run fine mowing, then decide to cut out. When spun over on the starter, the engine spins over with no compression, until it cools down a few minutes later, then compression returns, it starts and runs ok for a while. I’m sure it’s the exhaust valve binding when hot, everything else has been changed since this first happened!

what I like about the, “New”, roller is, it was manufactured at a long gone engineering works in the town where I was born, 6 mls away.

I would add a couple ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil to the gas should loosen it up, if that is not sold over there transmission fluid is pretty close to the same thing.

I’ve tried all sorts of things, Magnum engines were known to suffer from this issue, A factory bulletin instructed dealers to ream the valve guides slightly larger to resolve this. I built a stainless steel silencer after the original rusted through. I took the original apart and copied it, but added a high level stack. Although it ran fine, it is phenomenally quiet. I suspect the increased back pressure, and the fact that the horizontally oriented silencer, (restricting airflow past the engine) contributed to an already potential problem. Cutting the stack, (outlet extension), helped, along with turning the silencer 90 degrees to “unshroud” the cylinder fins, but the problem is still there if the weather is warm.

@Lee1977,  If I may suggest, you can quote a word or words in a post by just highlighting  the words you want to quote.   It is not necessary to quote the entire post and repost all the photos.

This takes up space and takes time for users of the forum to scroll through all the photos again.

Please just right click and drag across the words or sentence  you want to quote and a small quote will show up.

This has been discussed many times before and many users will appreciate your help in keeping the threads compact.

Painted my 314 muffler again! I do about every two years to keep future problems away!

Also ran the 702 a couple times.   Gassed it up checked for issues and good to go.  I am taking my 702 to Portland, Indiana for the Tri-State Engine Association swap Meet next week!

The official Wheel Horse Collectors Club logo /decal on a magnet!   They sponsor the Big Wheel Horse show near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania every year!    Which reminds me I need to pay my dues online before going to the show in June - so I don’t have to wait in line!

Needed a mule drive for my third Electro 16.  I have a pile I got at an auction years ago, most with issues.  So I grabbed two and made one nice one. It was a Pete Lena kind of project.  Lots of cleaning threads and lubing.  Popped the grease seals off and repacked the bearings.  Sounds good now.  Pete would probably not like my choice of lube.  No fancy red 500 degree stuff (If my mule drive hits 500 degrees Ii have a bigger problem:P)  I use GAA...(That is Grease Automotive and Artillery for you civies...My M37 and M274 have survived on it for years. Some of the gear Wheel  Horses are running GO-90...Gear Oil 90w)

Cleaned up the exhaust stud threads that were shot with a die and got 2 new nuts. Just waiting on a gasket and the 315 will be back in service just in time for some side work at the neighbors house. Also got all the attachments and storage area organized finally.

Interesting timing.

I need a seat for Cinnamon Horse that has more cushion.

I'd be open to recommendations.
