Today i just do few orders and a bit of Reworking.

 

Firstly i changed the Lift pin of the Mowerdeck with a chain.

the reason i did this is an i like to have it more accurate in the Swing while mowing on slopes.

 

the pendle will give it more possibillity to act, even it don‘t scratches on the Beltcover anymore.

 

Than i searched for a better suited Spring for the Governor.

Found in my spares a little smaller but stiffer one, that acts dimensios better.

A much smoother throttle response was the result without oscillating rpm‘s.

 

After that i fixed the Hoodchain again.

 

 

stiffned the Oildrain pipe with an mount, that holds the Clip to keep it save even on shaking or vibrations.

AMC do you know if those belt gaurd mounts would be the same as the ones on my 704? Mine are missing and I want to make some more.

I started out today by removing the right rear wheel to look for the slow leak I've got.  Gave the wheel a bath with Gunk then did a soap bubble test on both bead seats - no leak.  Tread inspection - nothing obvious there, either.  I'm going to go on the theory that the leak will eventually collect enough crud to get plugged - it does seem to be slower now than it was earlier this year.

 

As long as the wheel was off, I thought it would be an ideal time to convert to lug nuts and studs.  While I was doing that, I discovered that the hub had angular play on the axle.  Well, the set screw needed to be removed to install one of the studs, so that got corrected when the set screw was re-installed.  Of course, the left rear needed the same treatment.

 

While I was in there, I noticed that both axles had about 1/8" end play.  Is this normal for a 14-8 no name?

 

With everything back together, it was down to the lake house to mow that lawn, then a little bit of cart work moving some boxes around.

 

Got to add a picture of the interesting toy the guy on the other end of the lake has.  It is a Piper Super Cub.

also thanks that you realized this.

Independently that i ask @Pullstart to drain all fluids for Transport, 

that is my common Way to go and even i adviced here once at least,

but i don‘t just talk about, i live it.

 

Allway’s Begin with a complete set of Fluidchange and lubrication and you know what‘s in.

Learned that Lesson 37years ago from my Grandfather when i bought my first Motocycle.

He give me that Advice and show‘s me how to do. Grandpa has a friend that worked in a company now known as Liqui Moly.

That is my bind to that Brand

 

The System „lube, grease and change“ worked 37years for me with best results.

It can not complete prevent anything goes wrong, but it is allway‘s a good Way to start, 

same as regular Maintenance..

I finished it last night!  I think the funniest part, was the hitchhiker bit.  I’m so glad that I finally received a copy and read it, there is so much rich history of the company, so much drive from Cecil along with Elmer and his entire family and organization!

tractorhead, amazed to see someone refer to LUBRICATION AS A THING TO DO ON A TRACTOR , WHAT A CONCEPT ! also jack up the front end to properly grease the front end axle lower area , usually starved for lube, your pictures of numerous areas of lighter fluid lubricant to rusty movement areas says it all. i regularly use the LUCAS LUBRICANTS , because they really stand up . thank you for the view on that , pete

tractor head , on that governor spring issue, regularly use some PENETRATING OIL SPRAY  on each end of the governor swing points on the engine , that will probably help in establishing a regular movement , letting it work easier , been there done that , pete

Got my daughters tierods done finally! Got a guy to mill them for me and I bought 4 new ends off ebay for $14. They work perfect. I had my daughter put a coat of primer and 1 coat so far of Rust-Oleom international red.

Thanks Peter,

it worked gently and smooth, but i was not sure about the Springrate wich is basicly required for that,

so i have to find it out.

 

My first decision was not bad at all,

but the second spring fits much better and was a Success in a gently governor Engine.

Nice. Now you can do a proper front end alignment as well.

Some people laugh at that but they really do steer nicer with just a bit of toe in.

Well....my son made me get more tractors today! Lol

These were put to rest in the woods and were a royal pain to get them to our trailer. They are pretty rough but the decks seem good. They may turn out to be donor tractors. At very least we saved them from the crusher.

After issue and further issue, fought the GT into life once more. Got her compounded and prettied up for the show at Jim's. And its gonna sit until the show .. lest it have another chance to develop a problem
