Any who, bought a place with 1.55 acres, 2/3’s grass, 1/3 gravel. The place came with a 2004 troybilt riding tractor, but it had issues. I told the wife I wanted something with some serious butt to it to do the things we want to get done around here. Found the Wheel Horse on CL and went and bought it, fell for it with the first ride. It’s had a few issues of its own since then, but fixing them as time goes. I welded up a 2 1/2 deep harrow to break up the gravel which had been growing weeds I think for yrs. Ripped through it like a yard rake through sand. It did so well, my neighbor asked when I got gravel placed in my yard, because he hadn’t seen a truck or heard any equipment. I’ll post some pics another time. My current issue is the outer bearing on the electric clutch started smoking and yellin like it was being killed. I shut her down and let it cool off before removing the clutch. Yup, outer bearing is shot, but I cant seem to find a number for the replacement. What a great system had if off myself in 2 minutes after watching a quick youtube video on it although i could have figured it out. Didn't know it was this easy! It's truly a testament, these tractors that are currently in use, ranging anywhere from 15-20 years old to 40-50 years old, working in the field, different chores and jobs. johnnymag3 2,437 #5792 Posted July 19, 2020 (edited) What a Saturday it was !!! Hot, Humid, down right sticky A while back, I rescued a 12 HP K301S from the scrap pile. It was sitting dormant for 25 years or so, until a gentleman passed away. Three years after his passing, a nice lady posted some stuff in a local ad stating that she needs to get back to normal, and was ready to begin her life again. He was a hoarder in every right....BUY, never Sell. I met this fine lady at her home and she began showing me all of the Wheel Horse things he had collected. Most things I already had, but why not buy another soild 48" Mower deck...sure I will take it !! We left the garage area after she said she had a shed out back with her wheel Horse tractor she mows with. It was a well worn, 310-8 with a 42" deck.Solid as all get out, but needed a good cleaning...oh well I looked around and found an engine in the corner on a milk crate...it was complete. It had fuel line, PTO,and Chrome air filter, and nice stainless Nelson muffler. I asked her if she wanted that...She said what is it ? and what is it for ?. I told her it was a Kohler engine, for a number of smaller Garden tractors. It was at that time I had to ask, do you want it? She said that all of the stuff was in her way and that she needed room for her tractor. Everything you see, other than the tractor is going to the dump this Saturday. I asked her if she knew where it came from??? Nope... Have you ever seen your husband messing with it?? Nope.. How much do you want for it I asked...Is 20.00 too much she asked ? NOPE.. I used a hand cart to get it to my truck, then her son and I slid it up a 2X10 ramp into the Chevy along with my 220.00 48" Mower deck . So yesterday, what a Saturday it was I drained the oil, set the points, gapped the plug....the rest of the story.........I gambled and......well.....just click the MOV file and see...... Where did Spring and Summer go ??? Also the 1275 is getting treated to its new toys bought from wonderful people here !!! Lee1977 6,211 #5797 Posted July 19, 2020 (edited) With out the clips the race could move out into out side bearing. It is possible that it could destroy both PTO bearings and the race. Did they wear out, or are they lost. If some one replaced the PTO disk with a later Toro model. The thickness of the steel disk and the grove on the race don't match and will wear out the clips I made a metal spacer 3/64" thick to put behind the Toro disk to line up with the grove. Cut it all out and start from scratch. Got a switch pig tail and start from there. Sides wiring is about the only dang thing I am good at!
