Zach has never driven it and so we got him in the saddle... Followed shortly thereafter by big bro @Coulter Caleb So cool to see those guys enjoying the tractor that I grew up using weekly! Bolted it to the garage door so it "rides" up and down with the door. As you can see - social distancing is not being observed by the other toys... balconio 600 #4911 Posted May 26, 2020 Today I installed a receiver hitch, it's the one on eBay that sells for about $52... I decided not to go for the one that sells for $150. This one's ok, the box section that the hitch slides into is too short IMO and the fit is awful loose for my liking. I was able to fix that somewhat by using one of those anti-rattle clamps, but there's not much for it to grab onto again because the receiver box barely overhangs the bar it's welded to. We'll see how it works before passing further judgement. Worst case I'll hack it up and weld a new box to it. I already planned to strengthen it by running some flat bar struts down to the factory hitch pin, just like that one on eBay for $150... My first jobs are to pull down a couple arborvitae and move a dilapidated sailboat whose trailer has sunk into the ground up to it's axles. I bought that same hitch maybe 3 years ago. I've had it on two or three tractors now. To be completely honest I was not super impressed with it when I first got it. Thought it was quite light duty for the 50 plus dollars I had into it. That said, I have not had any problems with it except for when I go to install it I have to be conscious of not over tightening because the bolt mount plates are not very thick. I'm not at all fond of the receiver being so loose. Here in our rough forest terrain the trailer shucks all over the place. The person who makes those hitches really should switch over to a thicker stock. Tractorhead 8,607 #4913 Posted May 26, 2020 It is appears not to be the strongest Dimension, but i can imagine that was primary built for Lawn mower dump carts. In that use i see no problems in the dimension. It seems to me more it is planed weak points, what in my opinion is not the worsest Idea at all. If i rethink on my last Plowaction, i know that i underdimensioned the plowmount just with a 1“ pipe Hitch, but while that bend happens, i saved my Plow. A unplaned weakpoint honestly, but it saves my Plow. I think if i had dimensionated that plowmount much thicker, it will break or even rips the Plow itself in half. My Beast wasn‘t be impressed about that happens. but back to the Hitch. So sometimes it’s better to have a planed Weakpoint before you kill your Traileraxle or drawbar or even kill the Gearbox case at all. At least the 50 bucks was not wasted at all in my opinion, because it can be simply improved with a bit material. 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

He got it out and the kids were having a BLAST on it. Full suspension and street legal where applicable. Judge and Claud had never driven it before but THEY HAVE NOW! They loved it and Judge couldn’t go to sleep without telling me “50 times” that I needed to get Caleb’s “Blue Falcon” up and running again... This is Caleb’s that I bought for him for his birthday about 4 years ago. It has not run in a couple of years. Just a few weeks ago, this C-160 was in pieces, slowly eating away at my stimulus check.. I still want to do a full resto thread on this build, but I'm waiting on a few more parts so I can take photos and show off the @jimkemp muffler I've received at the end . He had borrowed the “new to me” grader blade for Clyde and decided to dust off the Bolens sod bottom. What better way to pull it than to get a little nostalgic and get out the old Iron Horse... Since getting deeper into this hobby, I like A LOT of horses (Big Wheels, black hoods, Xi series, round hoods, you name it) but nothing stirs my blood like that BIG block short frame! I got lots of hours on that stallion, I’m sure he liked stretching his legs today...wait till you see the furrow dad turned. I'm still pretty green to most older model Wheel Horses, and I've not seen one like yours disassembled. Belt drive from the engine and chain drive to the rear end; that's pretty sweet.
