I did some painting this morning. Had an issue with the paint previously so had to sandblast everything again and repaint. The first time I painted all of the paint flakes off during the curing process.

Then yesterday I used some glass beads and brought it back down to metal and a small layer of primer.

I then put more primer on as well yesterday and let it sit over night.

And then this morning I put on the top coat and plan to cure the paint this afternoon. Hopefully ending with a better result.

I found putting it in the grill is a no-no...….

Also sometimes there is a reaction with primer type, paint type......sort of like painting latex over oil....GM can tell you all about this issue , as can other manufacturers...Remember the 80's ?

Hope this time it all works out for you !!!  :happy-partydance:

I suggest "low and slow".  Start with low temps for a few hours, then let it cool.  Kick it up a notch, let it cool... etc...

That’s how I did it, I talked to customer service and the guy said to send to a powder coat shop so now I need to shop around. I don’t even know where the nearest one is.

All of my mufflers get painted then the heat treatment is simply to start the engine.

No issues on any of my machines so far.

No, at least the guy never said. He said they will typically only charge a nominal fee to bake them.

This paint scratches and smudges easily so I wanted to prevent damage, now that I think about it, I could do the clear coat and install it and let it get treated by the engine right?

@adsm08    If it helps, my son lives a few mile North of Dover just off rt 74.   If you decide to get them repaired and could deliver to Dover,  I could transport from there to the repair shop in Springvale.

@squonkWhenever I go on a road trip I’m always looking/hoping to see a sign like that. I wonder how many Wheel Horses I pass that are in a garage or shed that the owner would love to talk about?! I have a Wheel Horse sign on my fence at the beginning of my driveway, but I live on a dirt road that nobody really comes down except my neighbors or someone that’s lost!!

Trying to figure out it is all possible to convert Terrible column shift idea for the 312-H to any other form of lever...or pedal. The darn handle is under the steering wheel and you have to push the silly thing down to go to reverse !!!   Also getting the C-120 ready for sale.....Original EVERYTHING !!!!! except hoses, filters, oils, nice and cool out here today, so time to take care of Regular maintenance on 7 of the Horses !!!

This what I did to a 246H. Unthreaded the knob and added a extension to bring it up next to the wheel.
