What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

I ripped the plow off the 855 to mow today, hasn't stopped raining since some time over night.

Supposed to rain all day tomorrow too. That means I won't get to mowing until at least Friday, since I'm off at school all week.

What! You're not gonna let a little rain scare you out of some seat time are you?!

I've been out today in the rain cutting grass that hasn't been cut All summer long! This 414-8 did not let me down ! The rain felt good  although I had to stop once because it was just coming down too hard.

We had 99 90 + temps this year!.  She did get a bath though after all that cutting !  I took the 42 inch RD

deck off andput this 48 on in . Makes for a quicker job!

I picked up a 42” deck for my c-141 today and popped it on to see how it fit. The guy didn’t have a “mule drive” (is that what it’s called?) is that the part that I need to connect the mower deck to the motor? If so I see one on eBay right now without the “knob” on the front. Is that knob necessary?

IMG_7107.JPG.984622f3df93092bb9a9baa22729e1a1.JPGYep. you need the "mule drive" and a belt.

You can use a vice grip pliers to adjust  the mule drive and tighten the belt.

Goodness!! No wonder I can’t find one. Lol I’m just playing. Thanks for letting me know that’s what I need. Have a great day.

I don't usually mind it much either, but today it was heavy enough that I was worried about clogging the deck.

Lane Ranger

Working on a late 1980's 36 inch rear discharge mower deck that I got  (cam from Florida of all places)  that other then paint loss and a bad idler support arm is in pretty good shape.   No rust holes  but will new some new blades, belts and wheels installed.

I am going to take the lift pieces off and repaint the top and bottom surfaces.   New decals have been ordered from Terry at Redo Your Horse and I have all ther other parts needed to rebuild into a good deck for future use.

I have seen this idler support arm damage before.   The new one I bought is next to the old one I had on a previous rebuild.

The up and down movement (not so much the back and forth ) of the idler support arm wears a wider hole  often due to bolt damage or being loose on the support arm.   Something to watch for as these Toro idler support arms are now about $50 to purchase new.

Pullstart

Took a gander at the food plot this morning.  The foliage is about a foot tall with tracks proving the deer are here.  I kicked up a small doe on the way out too, but she was too quick for pictures.

Aldon

Not sure what the value is. Not sure enough of them sell to set a value.

i know this, you will almost never get out of them what you put into them. Lol

they look great!

And ive considered buying one already restored. I’ve done a few and I think I’ll perhaps tackle a car next.

I ordered four of the 23 inch TruPowers and one set of the spiked chains. I figure chains are expensive and easy enough to swap from one tractor to the other that if the 855 breaks down part way through the season I can just swap them over. I'll get a second set next year.

I decided to let the front tires on the 855 go for now, since they hold air and aren't really in bad shape. I am going to go to TSC a little later this year and get new wheel/tire assemblies for the 800 because they don't hold air, and I have experience trying to mount, or even just replace tubes, on 15x6s and it is worth the extra money to me to not have to deal with that crap.

Oooo well a car is a different story all together. More time ... more money. I would rather buy the car restored and work on the tractors !

I may start with a minor re-do of my Miata.

Not sure what I’ll end up with for a complete rebuild. I do know it will likely be resto-Mod rather than try to stay original.

And I have a soft spot in my heart for convertibles. 1955-70 era

If and when you do, start an off topic thread...I’d love to follow that project as well.  You have done such a great job on the tractors that you have redone that I certainly would like to see what you would do with a car!
