Nice! I'm currently doing a GT1142 that I put a newer unidrive 1 1/8 axles in and rebuilding a twin p216 onan for it. The wiring is whats gonna bite me going from mag to coil ignition.

LOTS of great advice here from folks that have done conversion or rebuild. 

Someone will supply the knowledge of wiring you need. ...

Ask first .connect second.

When you get into the wiring I would suggest you start your own thread on the subject so it does not get confused with this one.

We can link you to the appropriate wiring diagrams to make the conversion. The wiring for the same 1982-83 Kohler powered models with battery ignition should work for you.
