Key switch

Recommended Posts

Racer 28

Looking for a new key switch for my charger 12. The only # I'm finding on it is a pat # 3497644. I bought one at Lowe's but the terminals are different. Anyone have info on where to get one?

:WRS:            The Charger 12 came in several configurations. Some had a Magneto and some had an ignition coil powered from the battery. Each had it's own switch. This manual shows a lot of options.

I get mine at Oreilly's auto, about $12 as I recall, I've also seen them at a couple other auto stores

I see you are from Medford. We have some great members in your area who might have a new or used one for sale. @wheelhorseman https://www.wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/index.html  may have one .... wouldn't hurt to ask.  Let us know. Make sure you get the right switch as you can easily let the smoke out of electrical components if not correct as 953 nut mentioned.

Try looking on the hood stand, near the top, under the dash housing.

Pictures are important.  As said above these tractors come with different ignition systems over the production period,. Add to that when the breakerless system broke down they were often replaced with a battery system.  Improvident to know what you have as they are wired differently and used different ignition switches.

You have a 1972 Charger 12. It has a battery powered ignition system just like the one on page 7  of the manual I attached, on the right.

I bought a new key switch for my C160 at my Wheelhouse Toro dealer.

It's still available and the same as yours.

It is an original Indak brand too, not a cheap knockoff.

Price was $16.85 plus tax.

Ok, so I have the key switch and the plug but I'm not able to find the wire connectors that lock into the plug? Anyone have an idea of where I can find them?

NAPA has a good line of terminals. You will want the ones that lock into your plug.
