Dells68 here is what I finally settled on.  I really wanted the back and front tires to match but I refused to spend more for my tractor tires than my truck.

Well here is the next disaster to tackle on this long ongoing project.  Still trying to decide to use the balance gears or not.  Read arguments on both sides of the coin.  This one is going to the engine shop to be bored .010 over and a valve job had to pound the exhaust valve out.  I think i’m going to remove the breakerless ignition system and install an electronic ignition system from Brian Miller (A-1 performance enterprise) and maybe a slightly modified cam.  Does anyone have anything bad to say about Stens parts? OEM Kohler parts are not cheap and not to plentiful.

This is from Brian Miller's site.

if the engine has counterbalance gears, they will definitely need to be removed because one or the other could break, destroying the block and other parts. For most engines, it does absolutely no good to reinstall them. Most Kohler engines don't come with them and in most engines, they do very little to reduce engine vibration. When left out, the engine should not vibrate more than usual. Being balance gears are made of cast iron material and operate [out of balance] on a single, narrow needle bearing for support, they've been known to break and destroy the crankshaft, camshaft and engine block. I've seen this happen to a good engine a few times. Therefore, I highly recommend leaving them out. But if the engine vibrates excessively with the absence of the balance gears, the rotating assembly (crankshaft and connecting rod/piston assembly) will need to be dynamically and precision spin-balanced to reduce engine vibration.

I see the balance gears in you pic. Did you decide to reinstall them? If so, why?

I have decided not to install them.  The guys at the machine shop where able to get the rotating assembly balance within a gram.  I still had them install new balance weight studs and bearings in the gears.  Just in case.  I will assembly the engine with out and if i’m not happy with it I can install the gears.  But I have a feeling I will not need to.  If any of that rambling made sense.

Spent a little time with the dremel and a sanding drum.  Cleaned up pretty nice.  Ordered more sanding drums and will tackle the exhaust next

What do you all think about a touch of flare.  I just love all the modifications and personal touches everyone puts into their tractors to make them their own.  My personal taste when I restore a tractor is to put back to factory original.  I like to see them when they were shiny new.  So I ventured off my factory original way of thinking and tried hydro dipping I only had two pieces done. But I think they turned out great.  Just want to make it mine like you guys who do heavy modifications do.  Like I said before I love all the modifications and thinking out of the box and I can really appreciate all the talent and time put into these tractors.  Please do what makes you happy and whatever you do. DON’T LET THEM GO TO THE SCRAP YARD!!!

:text-coolphotos:          Love it!      :woohoo:        I haven't seen too much Hydro Dipping done but can see it catching on because it looks spectacular.

How large a piece can they do? What type of protective coating can be used over it?

Need a little help, does anyone have picture of the proper routing for the throttle cable.  Mine came with a choke cable and a modified throttle cable.

I’m going to call this one done.  The GT14 was a labor of love,  It took more than a year to complete.  It threw several challenges at me from finding parts to repairing severe corrosion.  Thanks to all the great people on here and others I have met thru the process.  This tractor is not one for the faint of heart to take on, as it has so many parts compared to the c models.  But anyone who loves a good challenge I highly recommend the GT14.  I’m looking for another project not sure what will be next I love all the models.  But i’m sorta leaning towards a 953/1054 or the 857 I guess it all depends what shows up first close by.

I’ll remember this one from the Big Show for a long time!  That shroud is absolutely rediculous how easy he makes it look!  Thanks for the video, and your background in the yesterday’s pictures is an awesome setup too :handgestures-thumbupright:
