Newbie here, I have a C-165 and am looking for information on exactly what I have as well as any other information available.  There is an "ID Number" located on tag under the dash.  It reads 1116K801 with a space and then Z8603. The engine is Kohler model K341, Spec 71179, serial 2229505963.  Have no history as it came with a place I purchased.  Mower deck is pretty rotted out & will need to be replaced at some point.

It runs well & my thoughts are to just use it but part of me wants to fix it up and then use it some more.

:WRS: Enjoy your C-165. These are great working tractors. You can do a lot with these lots of power there. Just take care of it. Print out all the manuals for it. There is a great Manuals section here. This will make it easy to keep all the PM`s  up to date.

Not that it matters but the Z8603 tractor serial number will be 28603.

The 71179 spec number is not original to the tractor but is a service replacement engine Kohler made in 1992.

Should give you many many years of service.

Awesome response, thanks to all!  Thanks Garry for the information;  taking a very close look at ID tag on tractor does show it is a "2" & not a Z,  Also good to know about engine age as well.  The ID tag on it does look a little different than a few other Kohler Engine tags I saw on this site.  So much good information to be found here, I will take some time, get manuals downloaded, and do my research.  This is going to be a little work but fun too.

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.

1979 c-101 nice project tractor just needs a few odds and ends, steering wheel, coil, carburetor bowl, the wiring was redone by previous owner....all 4 tires are good and hold air it goes into all gears no problem, transmission fluid has been changed, 10hp Kohler, message me or call or txt with any questions, it does run and runs well,  it’s been kept inside since I’ve had it, I would also trade for a mid mount grader blade thanks

Will the plow I am using on my C121 and C160 work on a 876?
or is the plow frame different?
      Thanks

      Hi All,

I have what I believe is a Commando 800 but would like to confirm model and year.  Tag reads Model # 1 0100 6; Serial # 790336. Have had it for years (bought from original owner) and want to clean it up some.

      Thanks!
