Lawn Ranger Front Wheels

Hey All......I removed my LR front wheels to sandblast.

Does anyone know a good way to break the bead on those little front tires?

I fiddled with it for a bit but not sure the best way to get the tire off of the rim without damaging the rim or tire.

Thx

The wheels split in half. Unbolt the two halfs

I have found that a large vise works well to break the bead on smaller tires. If they are badly rusted an overnight soaking on each side with PB Blaster may be helpful.

I made this it works perfectly for my 8" wheels, even though I should have made it adjustable, Jeff.

The tires were nearly permanently bonded to the rims. It appears the tires had never been removed since '66.

I ended up soaking the beads in WD-40 (which is NOT a lubricant like many people think) for 2 hours then balanced the rims on a quart paint can and used big clamps to pull the tires way down and expose the beads. Then just pried the bead away from the rim with a big screwdriver.

All good now but a total SOB.

Air powered chisel aimed towards the tire works best.
