Implement swapping?

Recommended Posts

In a previous thread I mentioned that I had bought a 1972 Bronco 14 to get parts off of for my 1968 Charger 12. Question is, will they interchange? I'm talking deck mainly. I'm sure the hitch and hydraulics will work fine. Is it the same transmission?

Both have the same tranny...Sundstrand  90-2046.

The deck should also work, even though I believe the 68 has the side drive and the 72 has the front mule drive.

You may have to connect the 68 deck directly to the rock shaft.

Will the mule drive swap onto the 68?

You may have to  drill holes to mount the front attach-a-matic, but it should work.

I'm not sure, but I don't think the hood hinge would be a clearance problem.

It will require a different length drive belt.

Awesome! I was hoping it would work out that way. Hopefully I'll still be able to use my snow plow with the mule drive in place.

The attach-a-matic mule drives slip right off with the push of a rod, so no need to keep in on with the blade.  Plus it inhibits some lift of the blade.

Yes remove the mule-drive. Use mid attachment for the blade. I was having a similar problem with my '68 Electro 12 and trying to use parts from a '73 Automatic 12. Pre-1970's (pre-Attach-a-matic day's). The welded frame fronts, axle mounts, and hood brackets all prevent the addition of a mule drive. So for me I am having had to do alot of modifications to use Attach-a-matic attachments.

Yeah, like Caddy said,  When you remove the deck to install the dozer , remove the mule drive with the deck drive belt attached.   As you will find, you must disassemble the mule drive to install the belt.
