Leaf vaccum for 1970's B or C models?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

next Spring/Summer im going to look for my 2nd Wheel Horse!

(I still have my 1964 model 854, purchased from fellow Red Square member "Buckrancher" back in 2011:

Love it! :) She's a classic, still my main summer mower and dump-cart puller..a great basic workhorse.

But now im thinking of tractor #2..

I would really like a 1970's model B or C hydro, this style:

But, important feature needed for Autumn cleanup..

Did this series of tractors have a vaccum attachment?

I would like to be able to hit leaves with the mower, to grind them up, then go back over them and suck them up with a vaccum..

thanks! research on my next tractor begins now..

Scot

You could build one. I built this one back in the 80's. It's had a few changes over the years. One change was from 4 HP Kohler to a 4 HP Honda. After building a receiver hitch I used it to mount the blower. I built the blower, but you can find one off a hand push vacuum.

I have an EZ Rake that looks  pretty neat . I have not mounted it yet but they are very similar to this nice outfit pictured .

My 1977 Wheel Horse sales brochure does show a leaf attachment using the dump trailer that was available and some hose set up.

cant remember but pretty sure it did not have a separate blower mower like a new Cyclone rake or the later belt driven"Poweflow" leaf set up that came later in the 90's

Someone here probably has the 70's OEM set up.

I use a rear discharge deck and sweeper.

If you google Wheel Horse vacuum you will see the factory set up. On the PTO pulley the inside groove runs the mower deck and the outside runs the vacuum unit. There is one for sale on eBay right now. I have one but its not mounted up because I have a Peco vac set up with an 8 horse Briggs for the vacuum. I inherited my WH vacuum from my uncle and remember it working very well. Someday I hope to restore it and maybe even put it into service!

had to be a 42" side discharge deck and 2 wheel dump cart from the brochure.  it does look like it had a mounted engine like a trac vac or peco.

so probably was made by another manufacturer and a Wheel Horse label was slapped on it.

Are you looking for a wheel Horse original?

sure someone here has or had one.
