:text-yeahthat: They were called a six speed at the time, but I understand another manufacturer was already using that term so :wh: began using the term eight speed instead.

Horsepower wise I'd say the 76 and 77 B-60 which was 7hp.

Yea, we just discussed that. The 867 isn't on my list but they exist. You're a better shot than you give yourself credit for Howard. :)

Be careful, you know the saying

Collecting tractors is like eating watermelon, you save the red and throw away the green. :ychain:

I've copied this from somewhere, most likely here.  Sorry I can't provide credit...

"1967 saw the emergence of the "six speed" tractors. A Hi-Lo range was added the "Uni-Drive" transaxle to obtain six speeds forward and two reverse speeds. The new six speed tractors were the 867, 1067, and the1267."

Plus this:

"1257 has the bevel gear differential, which is often considered to be the weakest of all."

My shot wasnt really a shot......i have been looking for an 867 for about 3 months now......

Bud Andews ( thank-you Bud )  gave me a lead......Just so happens they are good friends...He knew of an 867 near the lakes,,,,

and I am 8 hours south,,,,,,,Looks like i will be a proud new owner in about 5 or 6  weeks.....as schedules and work permit...

So,,,,,Racin Bob.....i may have been cheating.....on what i knew........But what is kinna funny is.....How everyone did not see it in the History Books......So i now wunder.... was it a last minnute model that they added to the fleet....To many 8 speeds in inventory,,,,,and a new model is born????   You guys may be on to something............

But !!!!!!!!!!!!!   There is be some rear view mirror shots....Road trip info as it unfolds.....

Howard, that may be the case; or they had a bunch of short frames in inventory and used them up with the transmissions they had on hand. Seems they did quite a bit of that over the years.

:greetings-clappingyellow:  All though its not factory original, I put one in my 656. Had to do a little modification in the shift lever area. for the hi-low lever and re-work the main trans gear shift lever. :flags-waveusa:

What do they say Don, "the proof is in the pudding". I'm not sure what that means, but the proof is in the owners manual.

In 1967 none of the six speed models had numbers on the body, they just had "six speed" on the hood. The ID tag on the dash how ever had the model number on it. T 867 is the model number on my ID tag. This forum is great! We all get a chance to learn from each other.

Using the few recorded serial numbers we have thought it would be interesting to see when they were built. Not very accurate but possibly shows a trend.

I guess this is a really fine point and I thought some other would have chimed in, but the 6 speeds are not the same as the 8 speeds in that the six speed's brake drum runs on the second intermediate (mushroom) gear and the eight speed's brake drum will be found on the first intermediate shaft. Just sayin':)
