1045 Short Frame Issue

Recommended Posts

Is it common for short frame tractors to have this frame problem? I have been chasing down an excessive PTO belt wear problem and found this when I started cleaning up the PTO pullies.

My guess is that a really big guy has been stepping off the right side using the foot rest. :hide:

With this design of the 3/4 inch steel rod being welded to a cut out in the frame this could happen ..... but I have not seen this very offten.

That condition is indicative of a tractor that suffered repeated hard landings on the front wheels. (too many wheelies :D )

The short-frame tractors are more apt to lift the front end when starting off or pulling. If filled tires or wheel weights are used, it's recommended to install a front counterweight of some sort. (or wheelie bars :hide: )
