K321 #7 Head Bolt

Recommended Posts

MaineDad

Guys,

I don't recall seeing this before, but does anyone else have a K321 where the threads (hole) of head bolt #7 in the torque sequence go straight into the exhaust port? I picked up one and I can stick a screwdriver into that hole and see it if I look up into the exhaust port with the muffler removed.

Thanks,

Micah

Yep, and it and the one just across from it are notorious for getting stuck and breaking off in the block - I've had to get dig 3 of them out!

A coating of never seize on the threads of the head bolts helps with removal...even in the future.

:eusa-think:     If the threads extend beyond the block, and therefore are not contributing to head torque I wonder why they didn't use a shorter head bolt?            :twocents-02cents:
