What old WH is this? Brought it Home 7-25

I need some help identifying this WH.  I'm working on learning the details to look for, so here's what I see!
The hood stand is solid.
The front axle is swept across the width and swept back. 
The lines on the top of the hood seem to fade out and not go all the way back
it has a solid seat pan.
The extra frame space in front of the hood looks too long? 
so would that make it a 1960 Suburban 400 or 401, or could it be an RJ?
it's in poor shape, but maybe a parts tractor, or the start of an RJ restore.
is the hole to the back left of the hood not factory?
it's been for sale for a while, and I'm about ready to check if the price is getting a lot more negotiable

What you have is a 1960 Suburban 400. The rear hole in the hood is not supposed to be there and it looks like the frame has been lengthened, not sure.

I think that front end looks like its a late model frame... that someone put 400 parts on.

I agree.  It's a lengthened 1960.  Looks  like it was set up to run maybe two engines????

The hood is 1960 400 suburban with an extra hole. The engine is on backwards which is strange - does look like it could hold 2 engines with the frame being that long. It looks like a project that was never finished.

It does look to have some wide rims on the front.
Either way, she's ugly.

Well the Craigslist had expired, so I called and brought it home for a reasonable parts price.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it could become my "ice Cream maker tractor.....so many project ideas!
For now i'm going to flush and refill the engine and transmission to preserve them and put it in dry storage..
Maybe I can find a second parts tractor to marry the two together!

I took the rear wheels off and it fit right into my short bed - even with the frame extension.

Please help me identify this engine.  I've been looking at lots of photo's but haven't found one with the "angled" spark plug and magneto shown several photos down.

The engine is free and the cylinder walls look very good, but the exhaust valve is sticking on some rotations
The exhaust valve has cast raised letters that say "EX EATON:  The intake valve has a screw in the top that looks like the valve head is screwed onto the stem?
Do these valves look like the correct setup for this engine, or has this been modified?

3 piece transmission casting says B3-0.
Does the "B3" mean anything?
 I understand th "0" is for 1960.

The front of the hood is very straight, but unfortunately someone butchered the side of the dash
 I didn't take a picture, but the rear fenders and tool bpx are in good shape!

The frame extension has just been tacked on, so it would be quite easy to remove.
Is there a way to tell if this id the correct frame for a 1960 400 suburban?

Might be a Wisconsin engine. What is the bore and stroke?

It has around a  2.490 bore and roughly 2.740 stroke.

Since the dash has a key hole can anyone tell me if this a 550 frame or point me what to look for to identify this frame?

The Wisconsin AB, ABN and ABS models have a 2-1/2" bore and 2-3/4" stroke.
AB - 2.9hp @ 2400 rpm
ABN - 4.6hp @ 3600 rpm
ABS - 3.6hp @ 3600 rpm

There is a flat area with two bolts in it above the oil dipstick (7th from the last photo). If you clean that area off with a scrapper you may find the model number.

The transmission is a Wheel Horse # 5010...a 1960 transmission.  You can tell by the brake band mount on the side plate...it is at an angle rather then straight up and down.  :)

The frame is correct for a 400. Also the clutch/brake pedal is correct for a 400/550. Same frame was used for a 400, 550, or 401

BUT, something is modified or lengthened in the front too. The hood should mount close to the front edge. Better to find another frame unless you are doing a rat rod

      The RJ58 was the big hit for spectators this year at my local festivals here in Carroll County OH. 
      the children loved getting their pictures sitting on it, then they discovered the bicycle horn under the steering wheel. It’s always a joy even in parades. Just love showing off part of my collection every year and hearing all the stories from those that had WH in their lives at one time. Can hardly wait to get to retirement so I can get some of my other models back to their glory in working order and be able to attend other shows/festivals throughout the year.
