Senior (RS-83) & Lever Steer Registry Update 2/6

...I wonder why Ohio & Michigan has so many , is there a particular reason for this ?

Michigan's State Motto says it all:

"Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice"

"If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you."

Michigan is simply a "Superior" State!

Old :wh:'s are smart - They know where to live.

I am thinking about sending out a Newsletter to the owners on the

Registry, This will contain pictures of tractors, Serial Numbers and other information

collected, Parts Needed, Parts & Tractors For Sale.

I ask SENIOR and LEVER STEER owners to

send me your mailing address, I will work on the first newsletter this summer.

I would like to have a copy of this newsletter myself, even if I don't have a Senior myself.  I think it would be nice to make the newsletter available to as many as who would want it.  Also, I wouldn't mind seeing this newsletter done in a pdf format so it can be publish here on RS.

Well that didn't last long ....

The Seniors just added a new tractor making the total 56 !!!

This one calls Massachusetts its home and is the only one in that state !!

It is a very nice clean tractor purchased from the original owner.

If I can get enough people on the Registry interested in receiving a news letter I will open it up

to everyone,

Names will be omitted from pictures or articles unless given permission to do so.

I have started the Newsletter List please send me an email if you would like to receive it.

Interesting fact on the New Senior in MA the Serial number ends in 931 just

a few away from a Senior in PA with 933.

Both Wisconsin AEN engines date to February 1955.

Send me your serial number i will look it up !!!!

Keep L@@KING, they are out there !!!!!

Well Ron About Two weeks ago I called you and you called me back and we talked on the Phone for over an Hr. About Seniors, Lever Steers, and all kinds of Tractors. This is DUKE from S/W Michigan. Do you have me on the list for the news letter? I think I was the one that spurred that conversation on the phone. If ya don't have my Addy lemme know and I will PM you.

Quick update on the Registry,

2 new Seniors were added to the list.

One purchased at an auction in Maryland

the other found in Mississippi !!

There IS / WAS a Lever Steer for sale on Facebook

I have not heard any information on it yet.

This brings the total of Seniors to 59 !!

I was told an estimated 600 were made.

We are close to finding only 10% of them.

Keep looking they are out there,

A big THANK YOU !!  to the collectors for saving the past.

If you see a Lever Steer or a Senior at any tractor show try to get the

owners name and forward it to me.

Thank you !!

Ron,

We had emailed some time ago about adding my 54 Pond to the list.  I don't know if you ever did that but here it is anyway.  This, as I understand it, is one of the last tractors to actually use the Pond name.  My dad bought this new in 54.  It came with green Wheelhorse decals on the side because, again as I understand it, they were trying to get the new name out there but it was not yet official.  This tractor is in the first volume of Straight from the Horses Mouth.

I have Unconfirmed information from a friend that knows

were 2 Seniors and a Lever Steer are, they are reported

to be in pieces in a barn but complete. When he keeps me posted

I will forward info on.

This would bring the seniors total over the 60 mark which is 10%

of the reported number produced !!

Keep Looking !!

There is a Senior owned by N.H. who lives between Rockdale and Thorndale,Texas. It is one with a hood.  He has quite a barn full of garden tractors and a barn and pasture full of large old tractors.

To all the Senior and Lever Steer owners that will be attending the upcoming

show in PA, I will be attending Thurs. Fri & Sat. and I hope to get a few minutes from vending

parts to look for you and your tractor.

If i don't find you look for me under the white canopy in the vendors area.

I will be updating the registry with small details about the tractors and misc. missing information.

Safe Travels !!

This tractor located in MA has been sold to a good friend of mine. He is a member here but I will let him announce ownership if he wishes. I can tell you it went to CT.

I recently spoke to the owner of a Lever Steer tractor that has been in his family since

1947 or 1948, his dad purchased it from the original owner. It has been in storage for the last 40 years

and in the last few months cleaned up and running. the 83 year old owner plans to take it to a few shows.

This makes the 22 Lever Steer on the registry and one no one has ever seen.

They are still out there !!!
