Now I can finally stop hating my EPA approved gas cans. I must have 8 or 10 of those wretched things. Thank you Zeek! You made my weekend!

Awesome! Gonna have to try it out on some of my old cans.

I bought a few of these in 2.5 & 5 Gal. Pouring has never been easier.

Those definitely look nice and probably work well.  If I only need one, I probably would have bought  one of those.  Thanks for sharing that.

. . . my problem was I needed four 5G. containers and couldn't bring myself to spend $200 on containers  :twocents-twocents:

Yeah F&*% the EPA make it work yourself  ...  Dang government always trying to keep me from hurting myself :angry-soapbox:

Now if I could figure out how to hack my old metal gas can with a metal hose so it doesn't leak I could throw out the plastic one. :confusion-scratchheadblue:

Great idea Zeek, thanks for sharing! I love any project that starts with a drill bit, especially one that works so well in the end.

I absolutely HATE the new gas cans .

I usually wind up wearing more fuel than goes into the tank .

Adding a Schrader-valve is a good Idea .

But i have a buddy in Canada who brought me 4 -5 gal "old style" cans .

They still sell them at Canadian tire .

Zeek - that is a great idea. I did a similar but simpler thing. I drilled a 1/4" hole in mine and stuck a golf tee in it.

Cool....I've used one of those in a gatoraid bottle to make a temp tank before...but never thought about using it as a vent.....

I forgot to mention, that if you push the golf tee in too tight, and leave the gas can in the sun, the expanding gases will cause the golf tee to launch when the internal pressure get too high. A screw on cap is a much better idea. I have four of the new "EPA" type cans. I just went to TSC and picked up a 4-pack of valve stems.

I think that's a feature called "automatic pressure release valve, with notification" I wouldn't have it any other way... :handgestures-thumbupright:

No vent or vent through the spout which restricts pouring/makes splashes, etc. if that is what you are asking.

The old style was very simple - pop the cap off the unrestricted spout -> open the air valve in the back -> pour a nice, solid stream from as high as you dare with a smooth flow instead of gurgle, gurgle, splash, suck, repeat . . .

With emphasis on the suck...

By the way Bob , I use a galvanized roofing nail in one of my cans, so far no launch. And if it does some day, I didn't do it man!
