muz123 1,182 #1 Posted August 18, 2014 Just picked up a 265-6 and it runs great except the tranny will slip while going uphill, so there will be some jerky motion, then run fine for a while. Otherwise it goes great. Any ideas that don't include swapping out the tranny? Thanks!
Sparky-(Admin) 19,437 #2 Posted August 18, 2014 I'm not familiar with your particular tractor but I suspect that the belt is stretched or the wrong size (to big) or a tension spring is shot or missing. There are no clutches in your 6 speed tranny to slip. Its either in gear or its not. Mike.....
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,478 #3 Posted August 18, 2014 Possibly the drive belt is slipping? Here is the service manual Garry

Fluffy3 1 #5 Posted May 30, 2021 Late I know but I thought I would post for future people searching the forums for answers. So the 265-6 with peerless 820-24 is a great transaxle but has weak shift keys. If it starts to jerk under a load the shift keys are worn they will slip in the gear grab and slip causing the jerks. Split case replace shift keys a easy job. Here is the superceded part # from peerless. Hope this helps. 799012 = Replaces 792138, 792123, 792123A Shift Keys
