Has anyone come up with a Decent Replacement Muffler for a D 200?

I've looked on here for a couple days but have found no real resolution for a D 200 replacement muffler. It appears my best bet might be dirt bike mufflers. That idea came from a post I saw from our friends across the pond. Does anyone have anything better for a stock position D 200 replacement muffler?

Nothing for a stock position muffler but a Gravely muffler and stack worked for me. You may be able to figure a way to use it in its factory location as it has a side inlet and center outlet

Us 'D' owners feel your pain. I had 2 of the "biscuit" types on my 180 for years and always hated them. Some months back after another post discussing this I opted for one of the tractor type mufflers that was too long, determined that I could make them work. What I did probably isnt for everyone but I ended up with a pretty nice set-up.

I cut a section out of the muffler - 4-5 inches? - and with a good bit of time and fiddling I welded them back together to fit pretty much as the factory ones did. For the tail pieces I went to the local muffler shop and had him make me up two 1" 90° bends and welded them on - I didnt want them pointing down as original.

Hey all, I'm doing my first fluid change on my new-to-me D200.  Refilling the transmission is proving to be quite the struggle.  I've attempted to fill the tranny through the dipstick with a variety of funnels, but the oil just spills over the top.  I may have managed to get a quart in.

      Gentlemen,

I just changed the muffler on my ‘69 Charger 12.

There are quite a few Gravely 18543 aftermarket mufflers out there so I decided to purchase 2; 1 from Amazon for $45 and 1 from NAPA (7-03679) for $72. Both are made in Taiwan and while the Amazon muffler actually felt a tad heavier to me, its welded construction was poorer so I decided to use the NAPA muffler.

      To complete the installation, I needed a 1.25” x 4” black pipe nipple and a 5/16” x 1-1/4” exhaust clamp (NAPA 733-5323).

In conclusion, it seems to me the sound out of the Gravely style muffler is noticeably quieter than the classic pepper pot. Worth the $80 to me!

I have a 522xi and noticed the muffler is glowing red as shown in this video? Should I be concerned and fix it to normal operating temps or is this expected?

      Thanks,
      JMack

Barn find 1975 D180. 608 original hours. Tractor and 48” belly mower look to be still in their original paint. Rear 60” finish mower looks like it has had one coat of new paint added at some point. Open to trades. Please email me with any questions or for additional photos. 35 miles north of Pittsbugh.
