WH 753 Speeds Up Downhill

Recommended Posts

My 753 runs and drives great and is my favorite tractor however, lately it's been speeding up when I drive downhill. If I'm pulling a loaded trailer the tractor can speed up significantly. Has something let loose in the manual gearbox causing this to happen? Could it be low on gear oil?

If the engine isn't speeding up my bet would be that the transmission drive belt is slipping

due to not having enough spring tension.  Try putting your foot under the clutch pedal and

pulling up to see if that helps.

So there's probably nothing wrong with the internals of the transmission?

I would say that tractor is deemed useless and should be sold asap (to me)-lol. I agree about the belt slipping a bit. I have the same thing on my 702 that I used today to pull the heavy lawn roller.

You know I'm older than dirt and I speed up going downhill

as well as slowing down a lot going uphill !!
