Any WH Tractors South of the Mason/Dixon Line - Besides Mine?

Recommended Posts

nolarefugee

I'm always envious of yall that live in the midwest and towards the east when it comes to used WH stuff, not of the winter weather, that's for sure.  BUT when I see these WH's for sale or parts available, they are invariably way, way up north....

Are there any folks out there from down here?

This is my daily driver: the coffee can is my drink holder - held on my an old speaker magnet, as well as my machete.  The bucket is hanging of of my seat cover....

There are several members from I think all the states below the line.  Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia... keep any eye on the location of members that post... you'll see them all. I could name you at least one collector from each of those states right now off the top of my head.  Actually some of the largest individually owned collections are there.  One of the oldest distribution houses was Wilson-Dismukes in Mobile, AL.  There are many RJ-35 and RJ-58 models down there in the region.

In addition to me, there are several other members in Maryland. However, Wheel Horse tractors are hard to come by here. I've actually purchased most of mine in Pennsylvania.

You will find WHA (Wheel Horse Addiction) in all 50 states and Canada too.

As noted above, check the member map.  :ychain:

FYI: You can lose the coffee can as a drink holder. Your favorite beverage in a koozie fits perfectly between the hi/ lo shifter and the parking brake lever.

Now the machete, I'd leave that! Welcome to the South!

The shorter list would be, "what is the machete NOT for" :)

Now in all seriousness, I have found locals rolling by eyballing my WH.  You can see the green in their eyes.

In reality though, its for the yaupon, the scourge of my place.

The thing about the coffee can is that it will hold a 12oz Silver Bullet just as well as an aluminum pint, or if I'm real thirsty: a nice 40....   4117_w240.jpg

I'm in Virginia with an 854 and c-101.  Both were brought to VA from Ohio, so they are not natives.

I have a place in Poplarville and work in New Orleans.

Machete is hell on yaupon.

I'd be interested in any used WH within a few hours drive. Saw a 520HC over in Woolmarket on CL.

Do you know where Many, La is (central), the herd is in Fisher just South of Many. Dennis ,gunny, in  Tx got me into interest, all we've seen is pictures, and tried to make plans to go see them. He sometimes gets close to there with his work but don't know whether has gotten a look see. Last contact with him was b4 Mentone. Emailed him Wed and haven't gotten reply yet.

Saw that 520 listed, thought high. One in Tx near San Antonio (Conroe?) $450 I believe 'course I know they are newer and stronger which demands a good price

I'm not sure I really count because my addiction started 53 years ago in northern Indiana. Wheel Horses in Florida are definitely on the endangered list. I felt lucky when I found a 2005 Classic GT about 100 miles from here. I would love to find an old round hood to restore but I'll probably have to head north to find one. I've even placed ads looking for one but no reply.

Many is quite a ways away from me. Would like to see them though.

The 520hc on CL was listed for $350. It looked pretty dinghy, but the guy said it ran well and also cut well.

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.

1979 c-101 nice project tractor just needs a few odds and ends, steering wheel, coil, carburetor bowl, the wiring was redone by previous owner....all 4 tires are good and hold air it goes into all gears no problem, transmission fluid has been changed, 10hp Kohler, message me or call or txt with any questions, it does run and runs well,  it’s been kept inside since I’ve had it, I would also trade for a mid mount grader blade thanks

      Hi All,

I have what I believe is a Commando 800 but would like to confirm model and year.  Tag reads Model # 1 0100 6; Serial # 790336. Have had it for years (bought from original owner) and want to clean it up some.

      Thanks!
