Introduction and the start of my restoration!

Recommended Posts

i took the day off today to run some much needed errands, and decided to build an e-tank at lunch.  I think it came out pretty good.  The first culprit was one of the footrests.

here's the tank...

I got the brake band painted and I installed a new friction liner of the same dimensions.  I used 2 ton epoxy and clamped it all together overnight.  Once the epoxy squeezed out the sides I immediately wiped it off using white vinegar.  that is the only stuff I've found that dissolves two part epoxy

my ocd kicked in and I had to make a new button for the point pusher.  I couldn't have that old plastic orange one in there.

the thumb screws had to be turned down in the lathe, they were too long and were hitting the steering gear at the end of the stroke.  thanks again Mark.

hi all, made a lot of progress this week.  I bought another tool box on ebay that was in perfect shape.  got that painted and mounted, along with the dash tower and fenders.  I installed the shift pattern decal, and mounted the gas tank finally. Next I have to do the wiring and sort out the exhaust mounting.  And cut the steering shaft to the proper height.

I really enjoy the blue engine, it breaks the monotony of everything solid red. (not that i don't just love red)
