Wheel weights for D-200

Am thinking of making my own wheel weights for my 1978 D-200. Anyone ever make your own weights? First thought is to cast them out of concrete in a round mould with PVC pipe running through for mounting bolts. Any suggestions, ideas, direction or info would be greatly appreciated.

Several folks on here have made their own wheel weights, and concrete has been one of the materials used.

Could always fill those big tires with beet juice or RV antifreeze. I think you can get 7 gallons in a 26X12X12 tire. 56 lbs of the RV stuff and 65-70 of the beet juice. I use weight on the 3 pt myself.

I used to have windshield fluid in both tires but one started leaking. Ended up removing both tires and installing tubes to hold air. Now I can't add fluid cause if I let the air out the valve stem dissappears into the wheel. Then the only way to get to it is break the bead and start all over. I liked the weight but it rusted the wheels something terrible. I'm lucky I was able to save them. Now I think wheel weights would be my best course. But thanks anyway.

Not trying to be a "smart a$$", but if the valve stem pulls into the wheel when you remove the air, you must have the tube in backwards, or the wrong size tube.

I bought a small valve that attaches to the valve stem that is used to pump fluid into the tires. It has a "burp" valve on it so you can let the air out of the tire/tube when installing fluid.

By the way, nice looking D with the snow-blower.

I found zip ties were and still are just the job for stopping "vanishing valve stem" syndrome.. Not high tech but they have been getting the job done on my 312 for many years..

Concrete and brake drums, works. Find drums at the junk yard to fit your rims.

I appreciate the kudos and advice. The tubes were installed by my local tire guy and they are the right size. Problem is the WH wheels used on the D series have the valve hole way over at the edge of the rim, not close to the middle where the valve on the tube is. When full of air it works fine but if the air leaks out the tube shrinks and sucks the valve inside. That being said I like that valve attachment with the burp valve. Where did you find those? And the brake drum idea is cool too. If I use both then I'll be super heavy! Or either one would be great.

The "burp" valve I posted WAS NOT the one I bought, but is very close to being the same.

I got mine at a NAPA parts store.

I enjoy using the snow thrower. It's a single stage so it has some drawbacks. But it can do a very good job if I don't move into the snow too quickly. Here's a video of me using it right after I got it assembled.

I haven't had a chance to use it in a really deep snow but I'm sure it will handle deep snow better than my JD with a snow blade. Word is we will have "more snow than average this winter" so I'm ready!

I'm very interested in this myself, but when I typed wheel weights into the search box all I got was this thread, which tells me to type wheel weights into the search box. I feel like I'm gong around in circles.

Type in homemade wheel weights and where it says "this topic" click on it and you will get a drop-down box....click forums and then search....I got 16 different threads. You were just searching in this thread
