What Are You Listening To?

Recommended Posts

tunahead72

I posted a couple of tunes from The Magpie Salute earlier, and been listening to everything I can get my hands on since then.  It's all made me realize how much I've enjoyed Rich Robinson's guitar work over the years, so I started exploring...

An old Black Crowes favorite, done live in front of a small but enthusiastic Woodstock Sessions crowd:

From the same album, a really old tune from the band War:

It doesn't get much better than this.  You need to turn this up to really enjoy it.  Preferably on a TUBE stereo of at least 50 W RMS / channel, and you need some decent woofers to capture Krupa's drum work.  This is the Inna Gadda Da Vida of the Swing Era.

I like Bela's music, but.... The Bluegrass Music it is not.  Just because there's a banjo doesn't automatically make it so.

How would/should one label that?  Is it Jazz?  Not really.  I dunno.

"And now for something completely different"

To me there are two types of music…. Stuff I like and stuff I don’t. This, whatever you may call it, I like. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Have you listened to his "Flecktones" stuff?  Awesome!  Victor Wooten is a PHENOMENAL Bass player.  He makes the Bass a lead instrument!  Bela is no slouch either... LOL!

I presume the violin player is blind?  What talent!  We recently visited the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, TN and during the music exhibit, the young man playing piano, singing and playing violin was blind.  Well, he still is.  The museum funnels you from room to room and he was set up in the center of the music hall.  I’d like to say, his talent captured an audience like no other!  I hung out for a few songs, more time in one exhibit than any other.
