Not from this guy.

Organized traditional religion isn't my thing.... but!!

I do have a much greater than average appreciation for the appropriate positive energy one can put into, and get from, the right organization.

If it makes you and yours happy and whole without bringing down someone else, go at it!

I'm all for it..

:handgestures-thumbupright:

Well, you know that organized traditional religion is no different than... going to a funeral parlor... :hide:

@TJ well done. There's one I hadn't heard in a while too.

I thought I posted this earlier, but apparently not.  And now my faded memory also says there used to be a really good version of Nils doing this tune live on Letterman, but YouTube says otherwise.  No matter, this song hits home sometimes, like now...  "say no to drugs and drink like a fish", indeed.

I just discovered this this cool thread. It plays into my second hobby, shooting video of live band performances.

I just uploaded this video to YouTube. I shot it this past August. Monster Mike Welch is one of my favorite guitarists. He puts so much emotion into his playing and singing.

The above clip was of the first act of the day on Saturday at this year's White Mountain Boogie N' Blues Festival. Larkin Poe was the last act of the day.

I done figured you'd like that.

Do some poking around on the interwebs and you'll find more of Gretchen doing Ann and Nancy's songs...

Who knew that Huey Lewis's song Heart and Soul was a cover? Was original done by Exile. Definitely has a different edge to it!

Not exactly my definition of Bluegrass... but it's not bad!

Bluegrass has " No Drums, No Flute,  No itty bitty guitar thing,  no six string Banjo "  I would call that more like maybe " Ska " ... maybe.

This one's got a little drum in it so it's not "PURE" Bluegrass, but one of my favorite Nirvana songs:

All Apologies - Pickin' On Nirvana ft. Iron Horse - YouTube

There is a whole big bunch of "Pickin' On" ...

Pickin' On Series - YouTube

(hmmm, don't know why they're not 'embedding'?

Then, there's "Run C&W" That good old Rhythm and Blues (soul music) played the way God intended it; Bluegrass Style:

Run C & W - Ballad of the Burns Brothers - YouTube

So, Jim @WHX?? has been (fairly) bustin' on me to live up to my earlier promise of some Allman Brothers tunes and stories, and I finally decided it's time to at least get started...

My senior year of high school, 1969-1970, I started hearing ABB a little on what was fixin' to become FM radio in small-town South Carolina, and I loved what little bit I heard at the time.  I had a couple of friends who'd already turned me on to some pretty exciting bands, like the Airplane, Cream, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Traffic, Ten Years After, that sort of stuff, and the Allmans were a major part of that growing list.

But it wasn't until I escaped and went off to college that I truly discovered and decided what kind of music I really enjoyed listening to.  I saw the Allmans live on campus my freshman year, and it was a great experience, but it wasn't until after I bought my first real stereo system that I really took the time to explore their music on my own.  One of my first purchases was the "Beginnings" album, which was a re-issue of their first two studio albums, "The Allman Brothers Band" and "Idlewild South", and the very first listen was one of those "aha!" moments.  I listened to the whole thing at one sitting, and these two songs were my first true introduction to what the Allman Brothers had to offer, pretty much exactly the way I first heard it, on vinyl:

More to come (but not tonight, headin' out of town for a few days later this week)...

Try "SHARE" (under the title of the YT video), then "COPY", then right-click and paste where you want it here.

Credit goes to Eric @ebinmaine for teaching me this.

Usually all I have to do is copy and paste from the URL bar and it goes right in.  I'll try that tip the next time.

Huge ABB fan!  Saw them four of five times.  Whippin' Post and One Way Out are among my faves.

Cream ---  yeah buddy.  Them too, but never saw them live.

Honsetly, I listen to the happiness.  I have no idea what he’s saying most the time. This one’s my theme song.. until I fall off!
