So what does RJ stand for?

Whats the difference between an

RJ 25?

RJ 35?

RJ 58?

One of the other guys could answer if I'm not quite on target but I'm under the impression it was Ride-away Jr.

25 equals 2.5 horsepower

35 equals 3.5 horsepower

You'll see rj58 and rj59... those denote the years.... ((??))

Correct the 58 and 59 where just the years they were made. and the 58 and 59 are dam near the same. only thing with the 58 is the early ones had a clinton motor after the early 58's they switched to a 4hp kohler. i own a fully restored rj58. Great machines. They were really the first massed produced riding lawn mower/garden tractor they made alot of attachments for them.

It’s a round hood and it seems to be all there except for the engine, not sure what model, maybe a 604 or 704.

I was thinking about something like that, or maybe using parts from this to build the custom rj

I’m pretty convinced they didn’t put big blocks in round hoods for a reason, but I’d love to see another one put together that way!  Go for it Robbie!

:text-yeahthat: (size is relative—I’m gonna hear it on that comment:hide:)

Back in the early 60’s 7 and 8 hp was considered big!  Could you imagine what people though when they laid eyes on the 1054 for the first time? Big Wheels, stretched frame, factory hydraulics, and a 10 HORSEPOWER engine!!!  Today, these ridiculous (throw away) lawnmowers with 25 to 28hp ratings on their vertical shaft motors—RIGHT!

However, Robbie—nice haul!  :thumbs2: can’t wait to see what you will make of it.  Have you done anything with that international truck that you picked up last year?

I have worked on the IH a little. I have slowly been gathering parts for it, i picked up a pair of NOS fenders recently. I have been super busy with school but I hope to start taking it apart soon. I will post a thread about it when I really start making progress on it.
