Two new horses for my stable. D180, C160

Recommended Posts

After the Wheel Horse Show I went back home to hang out for the remainder of the summer and I picked up a couple of new horses for my stable. I had one tractor already waiting on me in Kansas so I took along my trailer so I could pull it back to Virginia. While I was there I cleaned up and got some of my fathers tractors running so that he could start using some and start thinning some of his herd. The tractor that I went to pick up is a D180 that came with a deck, snow plow, and a tiller. The second tractor I picked up was a C160. I have been looking for a tractor with hydro-lift since last winter but have been reluctant to shell out the money. While I was home a friend of my fathers came by with the C160 with hydro-lift and deck and told us he was cleaning house and to get it off his trailer. I tried to get him to shoot me a price but he wouldn't take anything for it. Free really is the best kind. I have been back for over a month and they are still stored on the trailer. I am a full time student and I spend a lot of time doing homework and studying. Sorry I only have a couple of pictures of the two tractors so I will throw in some of my dads stuff for you garden tractor lovers. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Now some pictures of my Dad's collection. He has stuff stuck everywhere. He also collects large tractors and old gas engines besides his garden tractors. He really likes to wheel and deal for his antiques. Unfortunately he is not the most organized person and with the amount of items he has the place has becomes a mess. Here are some pictures of some of his garden tractors. He collects mainly Wheel Horse but if the price is right he will not discriminate.

Thanks for all the comments.

Tom B. he lives in Burlington, 60 miles south of Topeka. He loves to wheel and deal and attends quite a few of the antique tractor and engine shows in the area. If you are ever looking for a part I can put you in touch with him, Chris.

All those tractors and parts would be nothing but rust if he lived in Florida and left them outside like that.

I believe he has a little bit of everything one could want. I could go on a shopping spree if I was there and have a field day.

American Pickers need to pay him a visit.

Your Dad has a lot of "stuff". Does he just buy it and let it sit or does he restore any? Seems a shame to let it just sit and rust.

He doesn't restore anything. He will work on them but he has never tore one down and repainted one. He turns over a lot of tractors. He keeps most of the Wheel Horses but he will sell anything for the right price. His biggest weakness is trading. He loves to trade. Like I have said previously he loves the chase and the bargaining. Most of his better ones do sit under a roof along with most of the better implements but there are some things that sit out that shouldn't. He just has too many things to get them all inside. When I was home we worked on getting rid of some stuff to make room to get more inside of a building or under a roof, but he keeps buying more tractors and engines and has probably filled most of the spots we cleaned by now. I guess I will see at Thanksgiving. Thanks, Chris.
