You guys remember back in the late eighties when the Ford ambulances were catching fire? Now I am a HUGE Ford fan, but I had to write the report that finally got Ford to do something about it. One afternoon when I was riding patrol I spotted flames and smoke coming from in front of a nursing home. A Ford ambulance had pulled up to the front door to unload a patient and the ambulance burst into flames. Before the fire could be knocked down it damaged 7 other vehicles, most totaled, and caught the front of the building on fire, causing it to be evacuated. Seems the fuel caps were venting raw fuel along with the excess pressure from the tanks and that's what was causing the fires. That air suspension set up that allows you to lower the rear of the truck was invented back in the late '70s or early '80s by a fireman from right here in Lexington. He also invented the automatic tire chain mounting thingy. I've only had one oportunity to see that used and it is really neat. less than a minute and the chains are on. KyBlue 652 #102 Posted July 7, 2008 Scott, let's hope that neither of us will have the head gasket problem, but if mine does I'll be doing it myself, it's not hard just heavy back breaking work and it CAN be done with the cab ON! By the way, you have a nice clean looking truck! Hey Karl, my 5 yr 100,000 mile warranty is up Jan 2nd of 09 ... Ive got one of the mechanics at work who also works at Ford, going to put in Studs for me, BEFORE I have a problem.
