Kelly 1,028 #1 Posted May 31, 2011 I have been getting a bunch of emails from guys here at RS from their personal emails, with no subject as the header, I opened one bad idea, don't open them, delete them, and let the person know.

coldone 35 #5 Posted June 1, 2011 When I joined, the other day, I went to my email and clicked on the registration link. When I tried to close out the registration page I had one of the "Windows Virus detected" try to hijack me. I use avast and ran a scan then and then did a boot scan. It did not find any viruses and my comp has been healthy since then.
Redbirdman 7 #6 Posted June 1, 2011 Yes...me too! But my legitimate virus scan (Semantic Endpoint Protection) said: " Virus scan stopped an attack" . But I have gotten that from other sites too. If you get an email from me selling Niagra.......it ain't a trip to the falls. I got one from my friend that said he was stuck in France and needed a thousand bucks. (I told him later: even if I thought the e-mail was real he could kiss my ass, he ain't never been that gooda friend to send him a grand!") What pizzez me off is that Bill Gates made a zillion bucks off this crappy computer stuff, but never really finished it. ed :hide:

dkopp 1 #10 Posted June 1, 2011 Google "stuxnet" and see what this one virus did. I has been rumored that it was spread by USB thumb drives with no clickable files to speak of. Incredible in it's design and it's intended target.
stevasaurus 22,230 #11 Posted June 1, 2011 I also have received a few e-mails from a member with no subject for a title...I just deleted them. :hide:
Duff 206 #12 Posted June 2, 2011 Yup, I got hit Tuesday morning. Wasn't fully awake and opened a message up on my desktop machine at work since I exchange off-site emails with quite a few of the guys here. Slammed my computer BAD! Fortunately one of our IT guys was able to clean it up pretty easily, and the boss didn't come into my office while the porn sites started mysteriously opening up. Darned computers! Talk about a love/hate relationship! Duff :hide:
truckin88 104 #13 Posted June 2, 2011 Guys, Make sure you have anti-virus. AVG makes a decent free anti-virus. Microsoft's MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) for Win XP, Vista, and 7 (32/64) is a very very good program. We use MSE and malwarebytes pro at work when SEP (end point) does not catch the virus or malware. If you are real desperate for a fix on an already infected machine try combofix, very good, very powerful, use at your own risk. And Mac's are not immune to viruses neither is Linux. -Will

Gene_S 93 #16 Posted June 4, 2011 Kelly I've been getting them also from RS members personal e-mails... Hope no one is getting them from mine. As luck would have it my virus scan has missed the problem and a e-mail was sent out the contacts on my e-mail list. So if you got an e-mail from me tonight with no subject, please delete it... Sorry...
bmuone 15 #17 Posted June 4, 2011 My Mother, Sister and Daughter got emails from me with links on them. I very rarely send emails. I checked with my yahoo account and found my account was accessed from CA and Finland in two days. I changed passwords and ran a virus scan. If anyone gets a email from me don't open it. wh79d160 52 #18 Posted June 4, 2011 Same thing happened to me. I changed my password in my Yahoo accnt. & so far the problem is gone. Maybe it's a Yahoo only thing.
clintonnut 126 #19 Posted June 4, 2011 Good idea on changing the password. Just do it for a month or so and change it back when ready. Someone hacked into mine and was sending emails to me using my own email! Charlie
mavfreak 11 #20 Posted June 4, 2011 I received a e-mail from someone and couldn't figure out who it was so I clicked on it and my virus scan shut it down and said to delete. I didn't even know I had a virus scan thing on my computer? :hide:
