Snow Blower Repair

I am making a few repairs to my 36" snow blower getting ready for winter. I figure if I am well prepaired we won't get much snow this year.

The blower I have is the older style with the 2 wheels. Newer blower have skids in place of the wheels. Any comments as to which arrangement is better? Any differences in use, such as turning or hanging up on irregular surfaces, for those that have used both types?

I like the wheels. Makes it much easier to move around when not on the tractor. I think the skid shoes would work better on a gravel surface and not dig in as much

I like the wheels, even more with a driveway. I have used it mine on both stone and asphalt. Well on both. That's not to say I didn't fire a few stones into the yard.

I would assume that the skids may be better, than wheels, on a stone driveway. But, I have never used a wheel horse snowblower with skids, only a walk behind.

Yep, the wheels work GREAT on asphalt/concrete. Can't speak for the skids, or the wheels on a loose surface, but if you have a hard surface, I'd use one with wheels. :thumbs:

You can have both the wheels and the skids. There is a product service bulletin on where to mount the skids and retain the wheels. The PSB is in the Files of

Wheels are no longer avalible from Toro; I tried to get 2 of them. I ordered some from Mc Master Carr and modified them to fit.
