I noticed this when replacing the solenoid. Shims behind the starter and coil mount.

From the seen it all files... hacksaw blades???

Here's why. Bendix isn't even close to ring gear.

Any thoughts why? Teeth don't look all that worn. Wrong Bendix gear?

Bent starter mount flange?

Wrong gear of course as stated...

Is wrong flywheel a thing (??)

My first impression is that the teeth on the starter and flywheel do not seem to have the same pitch--could be the photo angle, though.

The flywheel seems to be the right diameter using the bearing plate as a reference so...

I’ll go with wrong bendix gear!

Appears to be original Bosch  starter. Starter mount looks OK and pretty stout. Tuff to bend that.

No only other starter I have like this is on a '68 Raider 12.

Was hoping some had one to measure or count teeth on. This one has 16 teeth.

Just the pic Don they mesh fine.

I'm guessing the mount got bent some how, hence the saw blade shims. May be put the starter in the vise, warm the mount up, & bend it back in shape??  Or... jamb the saw blades back in and run 'er. :D

Check the mount with a square, if it is supposed to 90 degrees it sure don't look it.

Cause he don't want me to dig the gold out of his teeth with a rusty old hack saw blade to make some shims ... :laughing-rolling:

Do you have a half decent method of holding the wheel in place? Along with a good volume of classic expletives lined up ready to go?

Ain't that the truth. So I get one bead off to find the inside of the rim needs to cleaned up so the tire has to come off.

Six inch rims should be outlawed.

None if yer gonna come and deal with 6 inch rims... you'll  sally out:laughing-rolling:

Yer right @ebinmaine ... taught myself some new French just getting one off.

Decided well if the Pullhosen @Pullstart has some 12" rims and wants to trade for these 10's I'll just put some eights on the front.

Worked to keep it a roller anyway.

One thing I did finger out tho is hubs for a  10" rim have a different center diameter than 12's ???

I think the plate should go behind the starter bracket.

That would put the starter even further from the flywheel.
