Why does the detent piece behind the shifter not contact?

It appears that the shifter is in place correctly and it isn't terribly worn, if at all.

Are there spacers missing or is the detent piece bent.....?

Wiring harness, dash, cables out.

PTO arm and linkage removed. Likely that won't go back on.

Got the frame and transmission separated.

No waiting on this one brother man.

Trina and I are aiming to have it drivable by year end.

That’s the spirit!  You guys are attacking this thing with veracity and determination.  Me thinks “the Bear” wants to have it functional for snow removal this season…🤔🤔🤔

Yessir!!

Trina can toss a plow on her 867 Pigpen anytime. We also have the Ariens walk behind snowblower. And of course there's my Cinnamon Horse C160-8.  I can use a 48" plow on the manual lift just fine.

But the BIG 60" @wallfish-built plow w/ skid steer cutting edge & Hydro lift. THAT'S a snow mover.

TBH there's no real NEED to have this tractor done by a specific time...

Well..... I can't let her have ALL the plowing  fun!!!

The Local Restoration Department BBT person is all over getting this Automatic back on the active duty list!!

Is that detent piece designed to hold the lever in a certain position?- somewhere between all the way in one notch or the other ?

I'd say it's to indicate by feel of the lever when you're in neutral.  See the blue circled part. There's an indent in the piece.

It just isn't contacting the shift lever there.

I'm putting a link to a thread here for my own notes. Very good idea.

That's what I figured to do.  I just wanted to make sure I didn't mess up the correct function.

I got the pressure washer out and hooked up.

Frame and steering wheel tower sprayed on the top side only with HALF BOTTLE of Pink Stuff degreaser. Let it sit for a bit, then sprayed it down with hot 🔥 high pressure.

Flip frame. Spray degreaser. Rinse. Repeat.

Got the frame cleaned up nicely  and even gave the snowblower tractor a little rinse.

Can you folks tell me where to get gaskets for the transmission?

Looks like 3 or 4 between case/pump/endplates etc??

I got the seat separated from the fender pan. Rear light off that too.

Removed a few more stickers/decals.

I did more scraping and cleaning on the frame. Trina started sanding some of it.

On past restorations we've known we wouldn't be using a lot of the small parts so we just put a pile set aside.

I've been trying to be a little better organized with disassembly on this one.  I've already done a few mechanical repairs and I'm keeping those parts in separate boxes and bags.

Influence/blame/teachings of @JCM Jim and others...

We're thinking about sanding off a bit then add filler primer to help smooth it out.

If they only blew some shiney paint on it, might be best to at least DA it down till you know it will hold.

Looking good Eric!!!

I would love to find a C-160 auto at the right price and at the right time. There is one close right now, but a bad time to buy a tractor!!
