1975 C160 Automatic Restoration

Recommended Posts

I like that wood handle on the direction control lever.  I've got lots of brush on my KY property that have vines growing around them that make a spiral  pattern on the branch.  That would make a neat handle.  I'll have to grab some next time we visit the property.

That wooden lever is maniacal.

I haven’t been following this thread too diligently.  Did you pick that up in the woods of the Vacation State behind your abode?

This is one of 4 tractors I bought up in Port Clyde Maine.

2 C160s and 2 1986 417As.

This C160 was a 2012 restoration with very good quality original WH paint sprayed on a surface of horrific prep. Nearly none. The "restorer" didn't even clean the )#$(&@.  grease off anything but the top facing surfaces.

It needed some repairs so I really was gonna do a quick partial disassembly and repair/repaint.

But when I removed all the parts I knew needed replacement it was almost down to frame.... Might's well just go right for it then!!

That's a Colossal achievement.

It's looking really good.

Ever thought of opening a garden tractor restoration shop? Open only in the winter months. Very exclusive.

We already did.

So exclusive in fact that we keep all the work examples.

Oh so the pole barn could be a write off? 😁

Should be a good write off if the company is always in the "Red" 😁😂🤣🤣🤣

I'm thinking about sticking that flat piece to the back at the toolbox where it faces angled downward.

That way the traffic behind me and Trina on her own tractor won't be blinded... But it should be a good strong glow for a few yards.

Just be sure to enclose them somehow. I doubt they will tolerate alot of moisture.

Good point.

They'll be out of rain snow line up under  there. Hopefully if I @peter lena grease the terminals well they should be ok.

Looks really awesome. I like the color scheme. It’s different but yet it looks like it could have came from the factory that way also.

@ebinmaine is that the factory seat latch (repo obviously) decal? I don’t recall seeing one like that?

Size and shape is identical to the one that was on there but that was a reproduction as well, from 2011 or 2012 era.

The color now.....

Terry and I were talking on the phone with my Aesthetics Professional, Trina, in the background about what to do for decals on this tractor.

I knew I was going with a red that is a shade or six brighter than stock so I couldn't use the original color. Just would have looked odd.

We were discussing what the options could have been and Terry says, Ya know? I've never seen one that was red with all black decals....

THAT'S IT!

I stayed with original red for the decals on the engine because I already had them here from a previous kit.

Everything I had to order, I went with the black background base.

I wanted a high cover on the side step sandpaper so we changed the location of a couple decals.

WHX??

What's the story on the Nelson muff EB? I just took one similar to that off a 1276 parts tractor that was given to Dan and I.

I thought it was unique and had character.

Managed to save it rusted on and all. No idea if the tink tinker is orginal?

Outlet is threaded 1 1/4 NPT... can you say stack? Sure I knew you could... :D

Insides might be rusted rotted tight tho :handgestures-fingerscrossed:. I'll go get some pics...

This one here's a Gravely style.

Reasonably quiet.

Good deep tone.

Likely I'd use another one given the chance.

WHX??

Ours here might be off a Gravely of sorts then. Just thought it weird to have two inlet bungs with one welded shut. :confusion-shrug:

Chalk it up to the things we've seen on a :wh: I guess.

I’ll start crating my 161 up to ship your way EB.  When do you think you can have it back to me all redone like that?
