I like the seats better also. They look like a well broken in leather; they're not are they? What should be applied to keep it looking good and not crack? And that steering wheel cap tops it off.

That should be a 1974 or 5.

Looks to be in good solid overall condition.

The absolute beast of the vintage.

The holy grail of Wheelhorses to many.

I have 6 of them here in our herd.

You've done VERY well.

Yes It's a '74. He gave me the manuals and some notes that I haven't had time to review yet.

I had recalled seeing a add for a deck that had surface rust so I got in touch with the seller. It was less than 20 minutes from the tractor location. I went by and bought it. And had room to take it with me. Can some one tell me if a 300 series deck will work on the C-160 also? Both are the "Attach a Matic" quick connect.

Should be vinyl.

Not sure what to wash/treat it with.

:woohoo:            Great buy, the C-160 is a great tractor and yours looks well cared for.  You have the best looking three piece seat I've seen in a long time. What ever you do don't use Armorall spray, the seat will be so slippery you can't drive it. Keep it clean and out of the sun and you should be fine.

I've read that vinyl is best cleaned with water and a bit of dish soap.

WHX??

You do realize a 160 -8 is on many a bucket list here! Nice score :handgestures-thumbupleft:

There are vinyle cleaners and protectors out ther. Any big box should have it.

I might just sell it to one of you. I was going over it today and saw that the transmission fluid was low but still on the stick and went to looking for leaks and found a ring of plastic on the shaft between the tranny and wheel hub. I recognized it as part of the seal so I jacked up the whole back end and found that the bearing needs to be replaced. ): I don't have a shop to do the tear down. A good friend volunteered to let me work in his and use his dad in law's press. But I would rather be taking wildlife pictures than working in a cold shop. That good friend did ask for first shot at buying it if I do decide to sell it.

@GAJoe I don’t believe an axle bearing and seal is a very hard fix on that. That may be why your friend wants 1st shot.
You’ll have some mild days to fix it… you’re in GA…

Absolutely not!

If ya make a ratchet turn that's definitely a doable repair.

BUNCH of information here on Redsquare about diving into transmissions both Auto and manual.

That's a bucket list tractor you'll not likely find again.

I'd not sell it because of repairs needing to be done.

Lead me to that info please. I'm not finding it. Will I have to crack it open?

You will have to remove and open the transmission, yes.

It's a nuts n bolts operation with no special tools.

There are a few threads but I'm not the best at searching and our devices may give differing info.

Familiarize yourself with the search key at the top of the pages. One thing to remember there is to click on the words below the window while searching.

Use the words "AND" or "PHRASE".

Your biggest challenge will likely be the wheel hubs.

There are threads about removing them as well.
