Ok guys I need some help...... I rewired the 1054 today, following the wire diagram to a T, but now the tractor has power weather the key is on or off. Also installed new coil, condenser, gap the points, set the valves and new fuel line. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!!

I would check the ignition switch, probably bad...

See if "off" is actually off...

Please tell us about your tractor with the old Brigs and snow blower.

Sure, it's a Simplicity VC. Bought new by my grandfather with a snow blower, plow, and lawn mower.

Using the wiring diagram following it with a test light or voltage meter. With the key off it will tell you where the power is coming from

:text-yeahthat:

What generator indicating light socket did you use? Is the generator light connected to the battery side of the starter push button?

The Cloe Hersee PL 20 RC light has two wires that go to the light bulb and there is no reference to ground on the light bulb. If you are using the old stock light that came on the tractor be sure the wires are not touching each other or ground.

There isn't a gen light in the dash, so I went right to the button with the wire.

Also, the wiring diagram shows the voltage regulator having constant power from the battery. Is that correct or should it be switched power?

That seems to be correct, the wiring for a 1055 also shows a wire from the battery + to the center terminal of the VR.

What wire are we talking about. If there is no generator light just eliminate that portion of the wiring, don't connect the key switch to the starter push button.

Ok guys, update time. Been playing with the 1054A and decided to hit the starter button after priming the carb with the fuel pump primer lever 50 times. I actually could not believe it as it fired right up!!!! I never touched the carburetor at all, it's how I parked it 25yrs ago.

It’s so awesome to see tractors come back into the family they started with or to the family that they really were enjoyed by. I officially finally have all of my grandfathers tractors (dads dad had a bronco 14 and a 1848, moms dad had a 416h) and my dads tractor (12 automatic). Look forward to seeing your progress.

Could someone please tell me how the original seat mounts to the backrest bar? The original seat was gone way before I can remember.

Congrats on the first fire in 25 years!  Woo hoo!

The seat will have inserts in it.  It bolts on from the back with 1/4-20 bolts.

My seat support is round with small pieces of tubing welded on almost like it would flip up to put gas in it.

I believe the bottom pad just sits there.  That’s the way all mine do.  Possibly the 1054A had the round tube and the 953/1054 had the bent square? Possibly yours has been remade?
