    Kohler diy rebuilt K241 ticking

Hi Guys, Looking for some advice, We rebuilt this k241 with a +.010 piston, Its had a rebore to +.010 but they did it off the manual specs and not the piston. Not ideal with an aftermarket piston but I wont get caught on this next time. Its developed this oscillating ting noise, its not the metal cover its there with it on and off, its 100% from the cam side, does it under low load / slow idle, Have setoscoped the motor with a screwdriver to the ear, and I cannot locate it. but its in the top. Have rechecked valvel clearances x2 already , 1st before initial run, and again day after, very minimal adjustment made after 1st run. Ting noise clearly heard in the video , appreciate any advice. Correct wire gauge for k241

I have a Raider 10 with a K241 engine that won't turn over. It's totally dead. Headlights won't even turn on. I've got a brand new battery and new battery terminal wires, but the small wiring is old and this might be the problem: a disconnection somewhere. So I'm gonna rewire some parts with new wire. Does anyone know the correct wire gauge to buy? I can't find it listed in the manual.

    HH100 to K241 swap

I know I've been mia for a while, so it's good to be back. I was looking at a Massey Ferguson 10 on Craigslist, but it has the Techumseh HH100. I have had much better luck with kohlers and just so happen to have an extra K241 laying around the barn. I was wondering if you guys thought it would be super difficult other than the obvious ( changing wiring and ignition switches) to swap out the motors.

Is this Kohler block any good

Last year this K241 threw a rod. And as it went it damaged the bore. I later heard that some lower damage can be tolerated when rebuilding. So is this still a usable block or is it only fit to be a boat anchor?

    Stuck Head stud problems

I have a Kohler k241 that I recently acquired. When I bought it I was told that it was rebuilt and bored .030 over. It came without head bolt and a head gasket, but there were 2 head studs in it. One came out relatively easily, but the other is pretty well stuck. I have tried penetrating oil and I do not want to heat it because it is right next to the exhaust valve. Would it be a big deal to just put a spacer on top of the place where the bolt head would go and just put a nut on it? Thanks
  7. New to the WH world and this forum. Got a 1980-83? C105 with a K241AS 10 HP from a relative and it smokes a lot on start, then calms down and runs pretty good and clean after 10 minutes or so. I read elsewhere on this forum that Shell sae 30 Rotella T1 would be a good try.(Might not burn as bad). I did, since it needed an oil change anyway (badly) and now it smokes worse... I also was told it may be a clogged breather? Or worse case top end new rings, piston etc... When I changed the oil it was black and what I would call "sooty" looking... No idea when oil was last changed but tractor sat for three years... Any thoughts would be much appreciated! sylvanlakewh
  8. I've got a Wheel Horse 1067 with a Kohler 10hp engine. The engine runs fine. Starts right up, No smoke. Doesn't burn oil. The problem I have is that there is always a "wet" film of oil just below what I believe is the fuel pump. It never drips, but seems to seep out very very slowly. I probably lose an ounce of oil a year. My questions are ... what is the likely source of the seepage; am I asking for trouble if I don't correct it; what is the likely solution; and how difficult is this? I have attached some pictures to give a better idea of what I'm talking about. Appreciate your thoughts ...

    Kohler K241 crankshaft

Hi fellow members, I am reaching out in regards to a engine problem on my 1975 C-101. I am in need of a new crankshaft P/N 47-142-02-S for my Kohler 10HP K241 engine. I have looked on EBay and cant seem to find a whole lot of good used ones. I have researched for new ones and they can cost a pretty penny. Does anyone know of any websites where I might find a reasonable priced crankshaft? Or does any one have one for sale? It seems like my only other option is to get a new engine which seems to be harder to find then a crankshaft! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPERICATED!!! Thank you.
