    C-175 Twin Automatic

Well fellas I may be going to the dark side. Going to look at one tomorrow. You know the story, ran a couple years ago when parked. Now no spark. Has mower deck with new blades and belt. Tires have new tubes. Has the plastic rear fenders/ seat pan that's busted up. I have no experience with the kohler twin. I know you like pictures but don't have any. Any helpful suggestions on what I need to look at tomorrow? Any idea what a replacement metal seat pan / rear fender unit will run? Worth ? I'd like to save it but really don't have the room for another but that's never stopped me before. Like to hear all your input. Thanks
  2. So yesterday I picked-up a C175. She was rusting away as she was stored outside. She had a new to her Kohler K341. @squonk The previous owner indeed better had"LET AN ELECTRICIAN CHECK his SHORTS!" as bad wiring shorted the battery out, and exploded/melted. She has a Sundstrand hydro pump with a Filter, is that normal? By the pump I believe it's a 1980. But you never now for sure as it's made in Oevel. Due to the bad wiring, the engine was in no running condition. But don't think the K341 has many hours on it. The hydro I don't know if it works. She was hard to push. So i lift up one wheel, so we could roll here one one wheel and the diff prevented the trans from locking up. So first things to do: 1) get the engine running 2) replace the steering wheel, but don't think removing it will be very hard as it's already split in two. 3) replace the axleseals, the oil leak caused a lot of sandbuild up as she was mainly used on for leveling out a horse track. 4) clean all the acid and remove all the old wiring to do a full rewiring 5) replace the plastic seat pan with a metal. 6)... I'm looking forward on my first C. It's also my first hydro, I don't know a lot about them and prefer actual gears. Simpler and need less maintenance (parts-shortage). But since I couldn't find another project WH and me hearing a lot of good things about hydro's on the forum.. I finally took the shot.

Bought a C-175 a month ago Havent been able to get it running yet but when I do I would like to be able to use it I bought it without a deck and I want to know if there are any compatible decks or if I have to buy a original one because from what I have seen those are rare and expensive

Worked a Couple of Blackhoods Today

Most members probably recognize me for the 5xi tractors but I do have a few other Wheel Horse tractors, including my second favorite, the Blackhoods. I worked two of my three today. The C-145 came back from just sitting since I broke my ankle in June 2015. I was using it in the beginning of grass season while I prepped the 523Dxi ffor a trip to the Big Show. It never was stored properly but yesterday was a rainy day so I figured I would play around and see where I got to with it. Put a fresh battery in, it had spark, so I tried putting gas in it. Lets say gas flowed through the tank. It seems the mice were at this tractor, as well as my C-105, as gas came flowing out from around the valve. Called my local Wheel Horse (Toro) guy and he had two valves and grommets in stock. Using some new gas line I had, I re-ran the fresh line and added a fuel filter in-line while I was at it. Poured gas in the tank and second crank, it starts! Speaks well of Kohler K-series, Marvel Mystery Oil, and Stabil Marine additive. Not bad for sitting under my carport for 16 months unused! It needs a bath - really bad. After cutting the lawn, I needed to put down some Fall fertilizer. The DC-105 came out to do the honors with the spreader in tow. Its the perfect tractor as the torque available with the diesel never slows it down climbing my embankments. Plus it does have positive lubrication, unlike the K-Series, so I don't have to worry about starving it. A nice fun day for seat time!

    Oddball C-161

Does anyone know the reasoning behind the black hoods like my C-161 shown below? I like it because it was my dad's and looks a bit sinister but from the hood to the headlight bezel to the twin Briggs, I just wonder why they built it. It's been a great machine. Dad bought it when it was a couple years old from a neighbor and it has had nothing done to it but regular maintenance, a little touch up to the paint, and a fresh set of decals. Even the tires are still in good shape with only a few cracks.
