The bad; I've had a bad upper respiratory cold for a week that has pretty much glued me to the recliner. I was not able to complete the new build. I will not be able to make the show tomorrow (Thur). The Good; All the test for Covid and Influenza A and B were negative. I was able to get the build drivable before getting sick. If my condition doesn't worsen, I plan to be at the show on Fri. I may have to hire a driver. A couple pics of the build; wheel paint seat build I did get the P-up loaded today. Hope I have enough strength to throw on 20 buckets of parts tomorrow. Be careful, be safe, good travels.

Absolutely wonderful group of people here. Trina and I have made some great friends singularly because of this site. I came here maybe 5 years ago? Looking for some information on my first Wheel Horse. I figure the knowledge that I gleaned at that point was worth 20 bucks to me so I threw it back to the site. Since then I've learned thousands of little trinkets about everything Wheel Horse, and many things not. Thank you all. Wholeheartedly.

Today, I pulled a nice big trailer with my C175. being hydro, It had no problem pulling this trailer full of old iron. the filled trailer weighed 4600lbs. Only backing up in the gravel did cause some traction issues.

So time for an update. Unfortunately no hydraulic pump yet.. trip to Man kinda left a big hole in the budget so it will have to wait a little longer before I make the investment. In other news i've installed the brake pedal, brake (master) cylinder, brake fluid reservoir, manifold and all the hoses. Master cylinder needed some tuning, the original feed line was on an angle I could'nt use so I welded up a stainless replacement part. Got the manifold and brakelines together with the Honda calipers I bought and could use most of the brakelines. Only issue I had was that the banjo-style bolt (M10 x 1,0) would not thread into the brake cylinder. The original brake line was hard line copper/steel tube. The problem with that was that the way that I mounted the brake cylinder required a sharp bend directly out of the master cylinder which turned out to be impossible and resulted in kinking the tube. The solution was to order a custom, steel braided mind you, brake line with the correct banjo bolt (M10 x 1,25) and thread everything together. Fits like a glove now. Pictures say more than you know what so here ya go..

Well I found a nice original machine from Michigan. The story goes this was bought by a guy who used it to mow his landing strip for ultra lites for many years. He obviously keep it under cover. I purchased this yesterday not because it was a desirable model or had been restored, I bought this because it is the most complete, original everything tractor down to the 36” deck I’ve ever personally come across and I couldn’t let it go. It is a B-100 Automatic with of course the Kohler 10. All I have done to it so far is blow it down with an air hose. It’s starts and drives perfect. A little smoke when quickly hitting the gas. This guy is affectionately known as Trailblazer. It sole use will be grooming my trails. I will be soaking it down with some degreaser and power washing this weekend once this damn heat lifts.

Liquid fills have been done both with and without tubes. I think the condition of your rims really dictates if you need tubes or not. I don't have anything with filled tires, but I would use tubes if I were filling tires.

I have to be honest. I saw “Do I need this?” And instantly thought “Yes.”

Liquid filled tires are even better than wheel weights. They place the weight low and the liquid helps flatten out the tread for better traction. Filled fronts can help too.

Hello all!! Long time Wheel Horse fan and finally an owner of...3!! Yesterday I bought the no model with 8hp Kohler and a 42" plow for $150. She's rough, but runs. Today I did some horse trading I acquired the GT14 and Raider 14 (and $300 cash) on a trade for a truck I bought for $500 😬 Raider runs, moves and cuts. Needs some little things to make it right. GT14 runs, but definitely need some attention as it was sitting outside for a little while. All in all, I think I did pretty good considering I'm out of pocket $350 for all 3 😁

For those of you who have known me for awhile, I have owned a Super C that I named Vader for about 6 years now. My plan was to do a full restoration on it and keep it as a show queen. WEEEEELLLLLL…life happens! I was a building contractor for 20 years but now I’m in full time ministry working with my dad to assume directorship of the ministry he started in 1979. That being said, I don’t have the same time for the tractor hobby that I did a few years ago. However, it will always have a special place in my heart and more-so YOU GUYS! I cherish the friendships that I’ve made through this forum and I know that I need to check in more often than I do. ANYWAY…I’m going to be thinning my herd a little bit over the next year but am still keeping special tractors. I was planning to sell the super C until Judge (my third born) reminded me the other day that I promised him a hydrostatic, law-mowing, work tractor. 🤨🤨🤨 (he has a dedicated plow mule). Is the Super C a good platform for that application. I don’t have a deck for it…wondering who has run a deck on theirs and how they like it. @Skipper has a total custom beast built out of his—please post that link, I’d like to review it. Can a 60” from a 520h be retrofitted to a Super C? Would that be a good deck for the application. Or would I be better with something else? a couple pictures of Judge on Vader from 2018. It isn’t a perfect tractor by any stretch but it wouldn’t take much to make a solid mowing machine for now with potential to fully “restore” someday should Judge choose… Thoughts appreciated!

I made a riser for the ball and added a link to the top transmission bolt to take much of the weight.

And they both use the same type of diaphragm material, though not the same construction. What is the same is that when (not if) it ruptures, raw gasoline will dilute the oil and can lead to "engine failure". This is why it is oh so important to check the oil before use... Bill

second tire is off.. 7 hours and 16 mi utes drive time once we get rolling. I’d be surprised if we are on the road by 10. Great time and place to be broke down however! The “Great Race” is rolling through town, from RI to SD! 1974 and older, most look like 20’s-40’s!

As @ebinmaine would tell you, you can use a product called Rimguard in the tires without tubes. Non-toxic beet juice, heavier than windshield or RV antifreeze, and does not rust the rims. But you need to find a dealer that sells and installs it for you. I installed new tubes in my winter use tires - a typical 8.50 x 12 tire uses 4 and a half gallons - I went with windhield washer fluid. No issues.

Bill- Plaza deck coating most likely. Similar to what is used in parking garages and athletic stadiums.

Not a fan of Ag tires, but I love these! Carlisle All Trails. Get your self a pair of these and some wheel weights (and eat more snacks while mowing ).

I'm thinking a trailer that uses a 2-5/16 ball tongue weight may be a bit hefty for the cable, proceed with caution .

The C195 is lengthened behind the foot rests and the fenders are raised substantially compared to the rest of the C/3/4/5 series. D-series are their own and not related to the rest of the herd in any form except for the name. Here is my Super-C I sold (regrettably) a few years ago parked next to my C165 that has the swept axle from a newer 520H.

I saw this product used to coat the pump island at my local gas station. Does anyone know what it is and who makes it? It had a nice texture and seems really tough. I think it would be a great coating for my garage floor. No one at the gas station knew who applied it. Thanks.

I think I used an epoxy type coating “kit” from Lowes… it was packaged and geared towards a standard 2 car garage. I believe it was Valspar brand. It worked great, following the instructions carefully, but I did read some reviews where people complained that hot tires would pull it off the floor. (I suspect in those instances the instructions were not followed to the “T”.) I have had no such problems with mine, but my shop floors never see hot tires. It is not designed to hold up to direct sunlight. I am very pleased with my results… the only bad part is I have dirtied it up pretty bad with overspray, but oil and other things do clean up well on it.

Possibly relief valve setting on hydraulic not installed or set too high and bottoming cylinder stalls engine. Sort of like hydro-locking. May have safety circuit on hydro to shut down due to high pressure in hydraulic circuit, which may need some adjustment as is being tripped when cylinder bottoms.

Years ago our old workshop floor was done with a similar coating. It was carried out whilst we were on holiday, (vacation). They used an acid solution to remove any contamination and ‘etch’ the concrete, then applied a two pack epoxy floor paint. A small amount of grit was also added to provide a non slip surface, but not enough to give you ‘Gravel Rash’ if you fell over whilst running to the exit when the lunch or going home buzzer sounded 😂😂. It stood up to most things we could throw at it, oil, petrol, diesel, etc. I think the preparation, and the fact it was two pack made a lot of difference to the outcome.

Sounds to me like ‘normal happenings’ for mowing hilly yards. I have had ALL of the same issues for the 30+ years of mowing my yard with my 310-8. My advice/experience follows: 1) Mow up and down as much as you can. Yes wheel weights and chains or Ag tires will help you traction issues. Realize that if you lose traction with chains or Ags you will tear up you turf!! 2) When mowing on a side slope the best thing you can do is the ‘weight shifting’ you described. Sliding in the seat is ‘normal’ if you don’t shift. I can’t imagine any seat that would keep you from sliding. And you really do want to shift to the uphill side(especially to turn). 3) When you lose traction going down a hill you will probably start sliding with your clutch engaged. Your first instinct will be to depress your clutch and stand on your brake. DON’T!! You will gain control a lot quicker letting the tractor drive train dictate your speed. You might not realize you are sliding the first few times you encounter this. Gearing down before going down (I use low range on my hills) is the safest action you can take.
